ONE YEAR later...
I GENTLY stroked Enzo’s gravestone while sitting on the thin mantle I laid out. I smile every time I remember his smiles, especially when he used to call me "Ms. Universe" whenever he’d be affectionate with me.
"How are you, Enzo? Are you happy up there?" I looked up at the sky and then lowered my head again.
"I'm sorry, Enzo. I still haven’t passed the board exam. The review center is so expensive. I’ve taken it several times, and by the way, I always fail." I wiped away the tear that fell on his gravestone.
"But I have some good news for you. I no longer feel the pain I used to whenever I remember you. And the bad news is, no man has crossed my path yet." I chuckled softly.
