Goodbye

Aurora’s pov The ride back home was silent, a silence I could live with, dad busy focusing on driving while to the jazz song playing and me clutching my necklace and occasionally stealing glances at my awesome father. I felt glad that at least one person in my life stayed the same but I couldn’t help thinking about my sister, I hadn’t seen since yesterday and I missed her and praying that she wasn’t siding with the coven about hating me, but I knew it was a long shot, she was their heir so the was no way she could go against them, didn’t stop me from hoping though. It was already late by the time we got home and still had to get a little packing in before bed, dad said to pack all my toys and he’d send Elizabeth to pack my clothes in the morning. Laura and I had a lot of toys and just thinking about sorting through the chests of toys to find my favorites was a job all on its own but there was no getting out it. The lights were so that meant mom and Laura were home. Dad packed the car in the garage and we went into house using the door that connected the kitchen to the garage. There was a ruckus coming from upstairs and some unfamiliar voices, looking at my dad trying see if he knew what could be going on but the uncertain look in his eyes had me convinced that he knew nothing of this. Taking the lead, my dad led up the stairs and once reaching the hallway we saw what the ruckus was coming from. There were some men from the coven moving things from mine and Laura’s room to one of the guest bedroom. Mom and Laura standing there with their backs to us watching as more and more stuff left the room to the bedroom right across. Dad and I stood rooted in place not quite understanding what was happening, mom turned around to face us probably having sensed our presence. “Ah you’re back, was wondering when you were coming back” mom said with a smirk on her face. Laura turned to look at us as mom spoke. “Don’t mind us, we were just moving Laura’s stuff into her new room, can’t have her catching whatever it is that you have, we’ll done in a jippy” she said turning around to order the men to hurry up and finish, not even sparing me a second glance. I looked at Laura and saw the pain in her face though she refused to look me in the eye. Sighing deeply, my dad pulled me back down stairs and into the kitchen. I sat down and he poured us some orange juice. “Don’t worry sweetheart, this will all be over soon, once we leave you can never, ever hurt again, I promise” dad said while stroking my hair. “I know dad, I know” I croaked as tears streamed down my face and the stab in my heart just worsened. After a short while, the men came down stairs and left without a mere greeting, followed by my mother, “all done, you can now go into your room, away from my daughter and don’t go anywhere near her, do you understand” she said the last part with gritted teeth. “Yes mother” I said looking down. “Good” she said turning to leave. “All that moving wasn’t necessary, waste of time if you ask me” my dad said finishing his juice. “Excuse me?!!” my shouted glaring at my father. “I said it was useless to move Laura out of that bedroom, seeing as how I’m taking Aurora away from this wretched place first thing tomorrow morning” he said with a shrug. “Off to bed with you little missy, we’ve got a long day tomorrow” he continued kissing my head and leading me upstairs, walking past a fuming witch and not just any witch but one of the strongest witches in existence. Growing up my mother always told us about our strong lineage. It was our ancestors that were able to hatch the first dragon egg and also be mated to one. It takes a really strong witch to hatch one and a lot of magic, one of the reasons why my family became royalty; we are among the strongest if not the strongest witches to ever walk the earth. But since the dying out of the dragons, we haven’t been as strong as we used to because without a dragon mate to channel their immense power, it’s hard to stay on top of the food chain, but that didn’t make mother any less dangerous. The woman was the strongest witch I had ever seen. Walking past her I could feel her anger rolling off of her in waves and that scared me. She would never kill her mate because she would die as well since they were bonded but that didn’t mean she wouldn’t turn me inside out. Witches tend to be a little crazy when they’re angry. It’s like the anger wipes their mind of any reasoning and they go on a rampage and that fact had me so scared I was literally running up the stairs trying to get a far away from her as I possibly could, I wasn’t safe sticking around an angry witch. Once I reached my bedroom I breathed out a breath I didn’t even know I was holding, standing at the door with my ear stuck to it trying to hear if she was coming up the stairs or not. When I heard nothing I relaxed turned around with one thought in mind, pack my toys and sleep, hoping morning comes sooner, but what greeted my eyes has tears rolling down my cheeks without my permission. The room was bare, the only thing remaining was my bed and closet, they took everything. Even our toy chests were gone; mom had given all my toys to Laura and left with me absolutely nothing. I stood there frozen in place as the shock of what my room now looked was slowly sinking in.   Slowly walking inside and trying to see if they left me anything but that hope was slowly crushed as nothing was left in that room, my books were gone, actually the whole book shelve was gone. Deciding to get some sleep since I didn’t have any toys to pack, I went to my closet to get some pajamas but I almost lost all the air in my lungs, my clothes were gone, the took my clothes as  well. All that was left was some old t-shirts and tights and some worn out dresses that I would wear when we were picking plants to make medicine with our mom. I couldn’t believe that they would take everything from me, at this rate I’m pretty sure they could take even my dad from me for showing me love, a good reason to leave this place and fast. I grabbed one of the old t-shirts and tights to wear and quickly crawled into bed, no matter how much I hated it, the tears just flowed out of my eyes as if I hadn’t cried enough in the last twenty four hours. I cried so hard I swear my eyes were red and swollen even without sleeping, it was hard to believe that just a couple of hours ago I was a happy child with a loving family and community. The Blood haven territory was a place I never thought I would come to resent in this manner, it was my home for ten whole years, and I didn’t know anything outside this community. I must have cried myself to sleep because I was gently shaken awake, groaning not wanting to wake up at all, who would want to wake up and face such an ugly world. I heard a soft chuckle and someone pulled the blankets right off of my head, always covered my head when slept, “no let me sleep please” I said without even opening my eyes, or maybe I couldn’t, since I cried so much they hurt and felt dry, “come on now, we have to get your ready for the big move, there’s a lot of packing to be done love, wake up” came Elizabeth’s sweet voice. At the mention of the move, I was immediately wide awake, Elizabeth laughed at my excitement to leave this place, but who could blame me, this place didn’t feel like home anymore. Throwing the covers completely off my body I heard Elizabeth gasp, looking up I saw a confused look on her perfect face. “What on earth are you wearing” she asked looking me up and down. Trying not to cry again, “they took all my clothes, just as they everything else and only left me these” I said looking down fighting to still my voice from wavering but failing dismally. “Oh, well go get washed up while I go speak to your father, take your time love, you look awful” she said pushing me into the bathroom. I went in to find my bath already fixed for me, grateful to have Elizabeth in my life I stripped and got into the tub and got cleaned up, taking my time as told. I had no idea how long I’ve been sitting in the water but it was getting cold and my hands were wrinkly, I got out of the bath drying myself and went back into room wondering what I was going to wear. I walked in and found Elizabeth sitting on my now made bed holding the clothes I was wearing yesterday. “I washed these since you don’t have anything else to wear and we can’t have you wearing those old clothes now can we” she said with a bright smile. She helped me get dressed and ready and then left me without saying a word, as if sensing that I needed a minute. I looked around the now bare room and remembered all the wonderful moments I had in there mostly with my twin sister. It hurt not knowing if I would ever see her again but it couldn’t be helped. I whispered a little goodbye before wiping the traitor of a tear that slipped out and left the room.
