Verrell wanted to do something special for Zara before he, Modesty, and Lincoln go do some damage. He blindfolds Zara and walks her to the garden. He kisses her cheek as he takes the blindfold off.
“Oh, my, this is beautiful.” She is in the middle of Carmela’s Poppy Garden.
Seargeah planted the garden himself for Carmela the day Modesty was born. Carmela recommended the garden because it was planted out of love. She only wants the best for Verrell and Zara.
Zara cups his face. “It’s beautiful.” Then she sees the candlelit table. “What do we have here?”
Verrell took her hands. “I cooked dinner for you. I hope you enjoy it. I know this is your favorite”. He pulls the chair out for her.
