CH 32 - Helena

HELENA POV The bathroom was still thick with steam when I stepped out of the shower. I wrapped the robe tight around me, the towel damp in my hand, water dripping from the ends of my hair and sliding down the back of my neck. The soft cotton stuck to my skin in some places, clung in others. I was warm, but it wasn’t from the water anymore. I paused at the door, pressing the towel to my face, trying to calm the heat that was rising again—this time not from the shower. The house was quiet, not even a whisper. Maybe everybody was sleeping for once. Good. I needed a minute. Just one. I stepped into the hallway, still patting at my hair, focused on my breath, telling myself I didn’t need to keep replaying that kiss. It had been just that—a kiss. A filthy, all-consuming, pulse-wrecking kiss
