I noticed something weird was happening between Kaden and Kamaris...
Every time Kaden ordered a beer, kamaris would too. As if they were having some silent competition on who could drink the most.
Even though Marcus had to be the one winning...
Namoka ordered food for the table family style..there was some type of meat dish with mashed potatoes and a white sauce pasta with chicken.
Me and Kavi waited for the food rather impatiently as we began trying to fold our napkins into different shapes to distract us..
My best one was a heart and hers was a swan.
Kamaris glared down the table as Kaden finished another beer, slamming it down hard, and causing the table to shake.
Marcus laughed loudly while looking between the two, unable to hide the humor he found in this.
"Now boys, if you want to show who the real man is here, we break out some of the hard liquor." He said, wiggling his eyebrows as Namoka looked at him, shaking her head no.
"I'm not going to be the one cleaning up after when you all get sick." She grumbled before sipping on her beer as Nati seemed to be in on the hard alcohol.
"Oooh can we order that one that tastes like licorice?" She asked excitedly, causing Alden to lean forward and whisper not so quietly.
"I think we are the only sober ones." He said, glancing towards Kamaris with a grin.
I looked over, realizing his cheeks were now pink and a goofy grin sat on his face...wait..was he getting drunk?! I never thought I would see the day..
"Bring on the licorice." He said quickly, making me giggle as he looked so adorable.
I couldn't help but give him a kiss on the cheek.
"Yeah, bring it on." Kaden exclaimed even louder.
Kamaris looked at me, his eyes glazed over as he smiled.
"You need to eat." I whispered him as the food finally arrived. He leaned into me, his mouth right on my ear as he spoke.
"Feed me." He breathed rather seductively..making my body shiver as the air between us became charged.
If things were already this intense..I wondered how bad it would get after the hard alcohol was introduced.
I began dishing out the food on Kamaris's plate as he sat looking down. He wasn't swaying yet so I knew he wasn't that bad.
I quickly put a few scoops on Kavi's plate as well and she dug in immediately.
I looked over, seeing Kaden staring at the table as wel..prompting me to roll my eyes and fill his plate next.
It was like taking care of children...
Afterward I turned to Kamaris, grabbed his fork, and took a piece of chicken while sliding it in front of his lips. He reached out grabbing it quickly, surprising me and making me laugh.
Suddenly I saw Nati taking a bite of food on her fork as well trying to feed Alden as her drunken hands smashed it right into his cheek.
Kamaris and I burst out laughing as Nati couldn't hold it in either, she leaned against Alden apologizing as we all laughed.
He smiled at her while yanking the fork from her hand.
"Here, why don't I feed you instead." He said in the most genuine way.
I could tell she was melting internally as she blinked up at him rapidly.
I continued to feed Kamaris as he kissed me between each bite.
Finally, when his plate was clear I began to eat.
Looking down I noticed Kavi was done and her eyes were growing heavy. Namoka stood, seeming to notice the same thing as she stood up and spoke.
"Come on kiddo, let's get you to bed." She said gently before glancing towards me and Alden.
"Can I trust you two to get them home?" She asked us with a smirk.
We both nodded and Marcus frowned.
"I'm not even drunk!" He said, his hands reaching out and spilling a drink onto the table.
Namoka laughed, patting him on the back.
"Sure honey, just make sure you throw up before you come to bed this time." She said as she turned to me and winked.
I gave Kavi a hug goodnight and waved as they left. Suddenly Kamaris stood, taking her spot as he sat between me and Kaden now, creating a barrier.
I looked at Alden who couldn't help but laugh as Nati scooted closer to Marcus.
"Let's do this." She declared, raising her finger into the air as our server walked over.
"Three shots each please, of that licorice stuff." She said smiling brightly.
The server nodded and walked back towards the bar area quickly.
I blinked, my eyes rapidly before staring at Alden as he leaned into the table and spoke softly.
"This happens every year, usually Kamaris doesn't participate though. So this should be fun." He said smiling, causing me to laugh as Kamaris turned to us.
"What are you two whispering about..all of that laughing you guys do." He scoffed in annoyance.
I leaned into him, slipping my arms around his waist, and smiled up at him widely.
"I'm just glad you are having fun." I whispered.
"Fun..this is just showing what the dark lord is capable of." He laughed dryly, declaring it to the table.
I blinked, even when he was tipsy he was still more big-headed than ever.
Kaden scoffed, looking over at him now.
"We will see about that. You might've beat me in the ring but I can most certainly beat you at this." He stated confidently, his words surprising me as I had never even heard him talk this much.
Marcus bellowed out a laugh as he clapped his hands together.
"That's my son. One thing us Charaka can do is drink." He said proudly, causing the room to erupt with cheers from those around us.
The drinks were now placed before them, three shot glasses each filled with a dark brown liquid. The smell alone made me gag as I frowned, looking towards Alden who seemed to be having the same reaction.
"Okay, quickest gets to pick two people to drink three more." Nati said excitedly and I suddenly had a very bad feeling about this.
The fire in Nati's eyes told me this was not her first time doing this. Kamaris nodded his head, his hands stretching above him like he was preparing for a marathon or something..even Kaden was wiggling his fingers as he waited in anticipation.
Suddenly a bell sounded from somewhere across the room and they were off. Nati quickly picked up and slammed the drinks back like it was water.
I heard Marcus groan and Kamaris seemed to gasp after the first drink.
"Done." Nati yelled out...Her hands shot up in the air as everyone around us cheered, she had won.
Alden looked at her in shock, and suddenly she reached over, kissing him deeply, surprising him even more as she cheered afterward.
I felt my mouth drop open as Alden just sat there frozen. Did that seriously just happen?!
I was living for this Nati..
I looked at Kamaris who was scowling.
"You are always a winner to me." I said, kissing him as he frowned.
"That doesn't count.." he grumbled just as Nati pointed to Kaden and Kamaris.
"Drink up boys." She said with a laugh.
Marcus seemed relieved as he shuddered looking down at his empty glasses. He sat back, crossing his arms with a wide grin as six more glasses were brought over.
I leaned into Kamaris, seeing him blink from the sight before him.
"You don't have to baby." I said sweetly, trying to coax him otherwise.
Suddenly Kaden lifted his first glass, bringing it up to his mouth and slamming it down. He turned to Kamaris, a smirk on his face as he exhaled sharply.
"Yeah, you don't have to." He said with a smirk.
Oh god..that would do it for sure.
Just then Kamaris reached down, grabbed the first glass, and took it quickly, only he didn't stop, he finished all three and stared at Kaden the whole time he did it.
Nati clapped her hands, excitement filling her as she began to sway and giggle in her chair.
Kaden quickly reached down, finishing his last two, surprised by Kamaris's actions.
Suddenly koid music began to play in the restaurant, causing me to jump as I realized it was the same fiddle as before.
I watched happily as a few people around us jumped to their feet and headed towards the middle ofnthe room.
Glancing back, I realized Marcus was now standing beside me.
"Shall we?" He asked happily, causing me to look up at him in surprise.
I glanced at Kamaris who was arguing with Kaden about drinking techniques when I couldn't help but laugh.
I nodded my head, reaching my hand out as Marcus took it briskly, his hand gripping mine as he pulled me onto the dance floor.
I had never danced to anything like this in my life, but for some reason the music seemed to fill my soul, making my body want to move to the music and causing my heart to beat rapidly.
"Just follow me." He yelled above the music, causing me to nod my head as nerves filled me.
Suddenly one of his large hands went behind my back and the other extended my arm to the side.
Then we were moving, his large frame pulling me in a circle as we twirled on the dance floor.
My smile grew even wider as my heart fluttered wildly.
Marcus's own smile beamed brightly, his movements light and quick, causing surprise to fill me for how big he was.
I looked up at Marcus with envy..something inside of me twisting with an unknown feeling as I studied this man..seeing how good of a father he was, how kind and caring and understanding he seemed to be.
I wondered for a moment if this is what it would have been like to have a father that wanted to do things with you. That wanted to experience happiness and joy. My heart began to swell as he spun me faster.
More people began to fill the dance floor, the music's pace building up higher as Marcus suddenly looked behind me smiling, before I could see what he was looking at he suddenly let me go.
I spun around wildly, laughing as I ran straight into Kamaris, his arm instantly wrapping around my waist, his hand gripping mine and a smirk pulled on his face.
"You didn't think I would let you dance with another man all night did you?" He asked playfully, causing my heart to flutter as he pulled me closer to him, our bodies pressing together tightly as he began to spin me.
His eyes burned into mine as I watched him intently, his movements swift and steady as he brought his face down closer to mine.
"You look absolutely breathtaking right now." He breathed out, the alcohol he drank before lingering on his breath as he began to smile wildly.
My own smile grew as my breathing deepened, the spins making my stomach flutter almost as much as Kamaris's gaze.
His long hair was tied up high and flowed behind him as he turned us sharply..his hands settling on my lower back as his body pressed into me firmly.
I felt it, the shift in energy as a gasp escaped me. The sound of his deep breathing filled me. The feel of his chest rising and falling made me weak as we moved together as one.
Suddenly the music stopped, applause and cheers engulfed us as we stared at one another fiercely.
For a moment we were the only ones in the room, our gaze not breaking as he leaned down, his mouth finding mine as he kissed me passionately.
His hands wrapped around my waist as the music started again.
Suddenly Alden and Nati appeared next to us as Alden yelled above the noise.
"You two go back, I will take care of the others." He shouted with a smile as Nati held onto him.
Her eyes sparkled as she smiled at me. It was obvious that she was bursting with happiness as I couldn't help but return it.
I nodded my head, glancing back towards our table as I noticed multiple girls now surrounding Kaden while Marcus sat across from him laughing.
I turned back to Kamaris, his gaze burning into me as I leaned into him once more.
"Let's go to bed." I whispered against his lips.
His head noddup and down eqgerly as his cheeks were pink once more...I had never seen Kamaris like this..and I think I loved it.
