(Amira) I whipped my head to Marcus, watching helplessly as his face filled with horror. His eyes grew wide with panic before he lunged forward, running towards Kavi. "Don't even think about it." Gideon snapped, sending his mist out as it was heading straight for Marcus. Suddenly Kamaris appeared out of thin air, the mist disappearing immediately as he waved his hand. "Gideon, what the f**k are you doing here?" He asked roughly, his hand holding Marcus back as I went to step forward. Kamaris turned to me, his eyes blazing as he shook his head no, freezing me in place immediately as his shadows began swirling around him. I swallowed hard, my eyes flashing to Kavi in fear as I saw the poor girl being held hostage..how could Dante do this? Alden ran up with a sword in his hand as he looked at Dante angrily. "Let her go now!" He shouted as pure rage filled him...I had never seen Alden so mad. "Give me Amira and we will let the girl go." Gideon spoke up, his gaze still burning into Kamaris. Oh god..please no. Kamaris stepped forward, his hands transforming into those razor-sharp claws as I bit my lip anxiously..this was happening all because of me. "That's going against the rules, Isn't it?" Gideon asked smugly while motioning to Kamaris's hands as a wicked grin filled his face and then his eyes flashed to me. "I have a proposal, you fight me man to man and whoever wins, gets Amira." He said loudly, making the crowd all whisper and look at one another in shock. My heart dropped as Namoka ran up, a sword in her hand as she yelled towards Dante. "You would do this to your own kind? A child at that?" She said full of disgust, spitting on the ground towards Dante. "I won't be your kind soon enough." He responded cooly, glancing towards me as I realized Alden was now by me and Nati's side...when did he do that? So Dante really betrayed us to get the stone of immortality. My heart dropped as Alden hovered near us. Nati reached for his hand, holding it tightly as Alden gripped my arm, a warning not to move. "Let the girl go and then you can have your fight." Kamaris said steadily, his arm slipping back to normal. "How can I trust you won't use your magic?" Gideon asked smugly while raising his eyebrow in question. "You're one to f*****g talk about trust... Let the girl go now." Kamaris commanded, his eyes swirling as he stared at Dante. Dante stiffened, seeing Kamaris's face, the look of regret seeming to flash through him for the briefest moment. Kavi stared up at me as her parents lingered by, fear filling them completely. Then she glanced at Gideon as if she were trying to tell me something. He had been the scary man she spoke of..this was what she was speaking about, it had to be. Gideon pulled something out of his pocket. A small vial containing a blue liquid that seemed to glow within. "Water from Evren. One drink and your magic disappears momentarily. Well, you already know the rest." He suddenly tossed the bottle to Kamaris, smirking wildly as he watched him intently. "Drink this and we will let the girl go." He said, glancing quickly towards the woods. I don't know if Kamaris caught it, but I sure as hell did. I turned to Kavi once more, her eyes burning into me. Then it hit me..they weren't alone. As soon as Kamaris drank this they would attack. "Alden it's a trap. There are more..they are waiting." I said quickly. "Kamaris won't take the potion..he knows Gideon more than anyone." Alden stated and I knew he must've been playing along just to get Kavi to safety but what if Gideon loses his patience? I looked at Kavi..my eyes burning into her. A part of me wanted to run to her, to yell out and demand Dante let her go. I couldn't just stand here and do nothing! Suddenly I felt weird, something inside of me felt as if it were tearing into two..like I was in two places at once. I could feel her, my hand reaching ahead as if I could walk forward and grab her. "Amira." Alden said in shock and I don't know what happened next but I took one step forward and I was suddenly right behind Dante. I blinked quickly, realizing I had to act fast as I lunged forward, jumping on his back as surprise filled him. He quickly let go of Kavi as she ran straight to her parents. Kamaris's eyes widened as he saw me. "Shit." Dante shouted before whirling around as I fell to the ground, landing flat on my ass. His sword hovered above me as Gideon yelled out. "Grab her now!" He said through clenched teeth. Before Dante could even move Kamaris was standing in front of me. His body tense as he looked at Dante. "If you so much as touch her..I will rip your throat out." He growled viciously, causing Dante to hesitate. "Do I have to do everything my f*****g self?!" Gideon yelled out, running towards us as his mist began to seep out of him. "Kamaris you are going to love this, mother has been doing some experimenting. This should penetrate those shields you have worked so hard to build up." Gideon said with a wicked grin that sent a chill down my spine. I heard people screaming and running away as his powers threatened to take over. Kamaris flicked his wrist, causing his swirling sword to appear as I slowly stood. That mist threatened to enter us as I backed away slightly. Just then an arrow shot through the sky, landing right behind me. I looked over where it had come from and there stood Donavan with dozens of Dolus soldiers at the edge of the woods. Kamaris stepped backward, reaching his arm out and pulling me into his broad back. I wrapped my arms around him, fear filling me as that mist approached us slowly. "No matter what, do not let go." Kamaris said quickly. I nodded my head, pressing my face into his back before gripping him even tighter. Gideon walked towards us, that mist following his every move as the sound of screaming exploded behind us. Their screams echoed through the arena as whatever magic Gideon possessed was full of pure evil. Then I thought of that black magic that Kamaris had told me about back in those woods and I knew without a doubt this was what Gideon had inside of him. Pure evil.. I closed my eyes, bracing myself as that mist crept forward passing right through us. I could feel it tickling my flesh, bracing myself for that excruciating pain that everyone else was experiencing..and yet, I felt nothing. "My love, are you okay?" Kamaris rushed out worriedly as he continued to hold me. "Yes." I breathed and blinked my eyes open, darkness surrounding us as I looked through it. Suddenly I saw a blue glowing light pulsing from Kamaris's wrist...it was his bracelet. The blue eyes on the raven were now glowing through the dark mist, creating some type of shield as that dark magic swirled around us. Kamaris acted fast, realizing this was his only chance. "Get on my back now." He instructed quickly, lifting me up as I wrapped my arms and legs around him, burying my head into the crook of his neck. Then he was off, his sword pointed straight as shadows swirled out of him, reaching for Gideon as his wide smirk now turned to fear. Those shadows caressed me gently as they slipped by, rushing towards Gideon and pinning him to the ground. They began to enter him, his nose and mouth filling with those dark swirls as he cried out in agony. It didn't stop there, kamaris turned his attention towards Donavan as his shadows flew through the air, rendering each soldier useless as they dropped their weapons and collapsed to the ground. Donavan disappeared immediately as he soon realized their plan had failed miserably. Kamaris's power was so immense that he took out dozens of soldiers in mere seconds, all with me hanging on his back. He walked closer to Gideon as he looked down at him. Gideon's eyes were wide as he grasped at his neck. Arubos circled and tightened around his throat, cutting off the air he so desperately needed. "I have a message for Dalia." Kamaris stated cooly while leaning over Gideon as he spoke firmly. "Enjoy Dolus while you can, because soon I will burn it to ashes..and then I will make her watch as everything she cherishes burns with it. " He said roughly, kicking Gideon in the ribs as he cried out. Surprisingly Gideon laughed wildly, looking up at me now. "That's bold, coming from someone who now has a weakness." He said, his throat constricted as he continued to stare into me. "Just wait, I will make you beg on your knees just to see her. And do you know where she will be? In my bed.." Gideon didn't even get to finish his sentence as Kamaris tightened his hand, causing Hadeon to lose consciousness. For a moment I feared Kamaris had killed him but felt relieved when I saw his chest rising and falling. The only reason I didn't want Gideon dead was because of the punishment Kamaris might receive for killing an Athuney. I buried my head into the crook of Kamaris's kneck, kissing him while I closed my eyes tightly. Suddenly a few of the Charaka soldiers came up grabbing Gideon and dragging him off. "Wait, give him some of this before he wakes up." Kamaris said, throwing the blue bottle towards one of the soldiers who caught it swiftly and nodded their head. I looked into the woods and noticed those men were being apprehended as well. They had to be at least twelve men and Donavan abandoned them all. I quickly remembered Dante..I looked back, seeing him behind us kneeling on the ground as his head was hung down. Kamaris approached him, his movements stiff as I could feel the disappointment pulsing off of him. But before we could even reach him, Alden quickly ran up past us. I tried to get down but Kamaris held me firmly, squeezing my leg and telling me to stay put. Alden ran forward and punched Dante across the face before placing his sword on Dante's neck. "What the hell were you thinking?" He yelled out, anger and disgust filling him as Dante kept his head hung down. "Do you realize what you have done? The danger you have put these people in?" Alden yelled once more, his sword pressing into Dante's neck and drawing blood. "Answer me!" Alden shouted angrily. Dante kept his head down, his hands hanging by his side as he spoke. "You don't know what it's like..how we have been treated. Forced to serve your kind all of our lives. My own parents killed, my sister, raped and murdered by Athuney soldiers just like you." He said with disgust. My heart began to ache..I hadn't realized what Dante had been through. "Do I not deserve to live for eternity? Having to have witnessed what I had. I have been by your sides for hundreds of years and yet one day I will be nothing, all of this will be pointless..my life a waste." He spoke bitterly, as something in me wanted to go to him. My heart told me I needed to speak to him, to embrace him, and tell him there is more to life than this...that the path he chose wasn't the only one he could've taken..Even though what he did was horrible, what he had been through was horrible as well. I slowly broke away from Kamaris, his hand gripping me as I looked at him. "Please.." I whispered softly, his eyes searching mine as he gently let go, trusting me. I dropped down to the floor and walked around him, his hand staying on my back as I stepped forward, kneeling before Dante. I hesitated for a moment, my hands shaking as I reached up towards his face. Surprise filled him as he looked at me in disbelief. "I am so sorry you had to experience such heartbreak from the hands of others..that those meant to protect you have failed you..but you know this wasn't the right way Dante. The immortality you would have gained and how you achieved it..would it be worth it? To have to live with that for eternity..." I spoke gently, seeing his eyes soften as tears filled them. "You are not a waste..your family would have wanted you to take this life you have now and make the best out of it..for the future of your kind. Not to turn into the same type of monster that destroyed them." My words came from my heart as if they were not even my own, but rather a message, a reminder of who he is. Dante's head lowered..his tears falling to the ground as he began to sob. "I didn't think it would go this far..I'm sorry." He whispered, his hands covering his face as he broke down. Suddenly I felt Kamaris's arms on my side, his hands lifting me and helping me stand before he stepped forward. "My Lord..please..I do not deserve to live." He whispered, looking up at Kamaris with shame-filled eyes. I watched as Kamaris stared down at him, his gaze burning into Dante as he stepped forward reaching down and gripping Dante's face. "I trusted you to protect her and you betrayed me. You tried to hurt my mirror soul, the future Lady of Darkness.." Kamaris informed Dante, making him gasp as his eyes widened. "Arubos believes you deserve the worst death imaginable for hurting what is his..what do you believe?" Kamaris asked Dante as he hung his head down once more.. I watched with sadness..knowing the fate that Dante faced and wished that things could've been different.. Without even answering Kamaris, Dante reached down, pulled his sword out, and lifted it above his chest. "I believe I have failed you..I have failed all of you..and I just pray my family forgives me for betraying my own people.." He whispered and that's when I looked on in horror as he plunged his sword into his own heart, making me turn into Kamaris and let out a sob. Why did it have to be like this? Why did there have to be death and darkness..it wasn't right and I felt my soul aching as I heard the gargle of Dante's final breaths. I quickly pulled from Kamaris. "Amira." He said my name as I dropped to the ground and held Dante's head gently. "You will see them soon..they are waiting for you.." I whispered into his ear as I swear I felt the presence of his family around us..as if they were waiting there to welcome him. Suddenly my hands began to glow, and I watched as Dante began to smile as he peered up at me. The pain slipping away as he was only left with good memories and happiness. And then..he was gone. "Amira.." Kamaris breathed name becore lifting me up and holding me to his chest. I felt Dante's life slip away and I prayed to the God's that he would find the peace he needed. "I felt the darkness inside of him..I felt it.." I cried into Kamaris's chest as he gripped me even tighter. "But I also felt the light.." I added, feeling Kamaris's mouth sliding against my face and lips, kissing me desperately. "I know my love..I know." He whispered and then I began to wonder if that's really why I was brought here..maybe I can save that light..but am I truly capable of doing something like that? Is what Mabel said true? Am I really here to save Alysian?
