Jessica “Have a taste.” I said, nervously placing down a plate filled with cookies that I brought from home because of thinking that I might need a snack while or after doing the interview. While waiting for her to take a piece and taste the cookies I baked, I sit beside Alex anxiously while trying to maintain my composure and stopping my hands from fidgeting. Ever since they arrived, the silence became so heavy that I don’t know how to completely wipe it off of the office. Alex is just calmly sitting beside me, his left hand is now placed on top of my hands. As much as I want to whisper how nervous I am, I don’t want to appear like a weak kid, especially when after everything that happened in a short span of time, we’ve come this far—meeting the secretary of his mother for forgiveness
