Eva's POV
"Wait up," I was halfway to the carriage when I heard Kai call out, his voice catching me off guard. I turned to see Ron was wheeling Kai towards me, his expression softer than it had been the last few days.
"Mind if I drop you off at the clinic?" he asked, making me smile instantly. He was finally easing up to me.
Too excited, I took over the handle from Kai, wheeling him forward. "It's been a while since you accompanied me."
After we got into the carriage for a while, the silence stretched between us. I could feel the tension in the air, thick and suffocating. I couldn’t help but glance at him out of the corner of my eye, wondering what was on his mind. What had changed? Why was he here?
