“Your thoughts are all over the place sweetheart.” Raleigh wraps his arms around me as his lips kiss the side of my neck.
“Those terrible memories we saw….I thought I might see my father. Since that all happened near here.”
His eyes meet mine in the mirror. “I was worried about that but Talbock said that horrid thing was a gift for you and you were the only one it wouldn’t harm. Meaning no painful memories of yours.”
“Mom was afraid of that too. I wanted to see his face in some ways. Hear his voice.” Raleigh’s face clears for a second.
“That’s understandable. I’m glad you didn’t though.” He buries his face in my shoulder. “Watching Mom’s pain was…sickening. I know their story but to relive it was excruciating for me. I can’t believe Dad held it together.”
