Chapter 8 Get Some Rest

1301 Words
Paul felt all his courage leaving him after he saw Simon in the jewelry shop. He had always been proud and arrogant in front of Simon but not anymore. His injuries from last night were still hurting! He could neither defeat Simon in strength nor financial power. There was nothing that he could do except being a wimp in front of him. On the other hand, Heidi was burning with humiliation. She lowered her head, unable to bring herself to look at Simon. Even her cheeks and ears were red. Simon walked up to Paul and said, "Foster, are you even a man? How can you ask your ex for her jewelry because you need money? Don't you think that you're an embarrassment?" "It's... It's all because you bankrupted my family." Paul's voice was full of grievances and resentment. "Oh, right. It's my bad. I forgot about it." Simon fished out a hundred-dollar bill from his pocket and threw it at Paul's face. "Since you're so miserable, here's a hundred bucks for compensation. Get a little extra something at the cafeteria." Seeing Simon give Paul a taste of his own medicine, Dixie burst into laughter. Paul blushed so hard that even the tip of his ears was red. He could not bring himself to snatch Heidi's jewelry anymore either, so he fled with his tail between his legs. He did not take the money. Outside the jewelry shop, he muttered to himself, "Floyd, you better watch your back. I will repay this humiliation a thousand times over!" Heidi did not look relaxed or happier after Paul was gone. She looked just as miserable and awkward as her ex-boyfriend. Her face was red and she did not dare to look at Simon. Simon walked up to her. "Heidi, I thought you adore Foster. Why aren't you going after him?" Heidi felt even more humiliated. But knowing that she had thoroughly embarrassed herself, she decided to try her luck. She grabbed Simon's arm and said, "Simon, I'm sorry. I have never stopped loving you but Paul was very persistent and convinced me to leave you. If you want to, I can go back to you right now. I will never leave you again!" Simon scoffed and said sarcastically, "So, you're saying that he forced you into dating him." "Yes! He forced me!" "Oh, but you seemed pretty happy humiliating me at the karaoke bar last night. Did he force you to do that too? All those times that you mocked me, was that him too?" Heidi became tongue-tied. "I..." "Enough. Do whatever you want. Since we have once loved each other, I won't get back at you for what you have done. Go back. Don't talk to me anymore," Simon said bluntly. Knowing that there was no point arguing, Heidi gave him and Dixie a resentful look before leaving in low spirits. Dixie let out a sigh of relief as well. She thought that Simon would be soft-hearted and get back with Heidi. Now that Heidi had left, she linked arms with Simon and pressed her body onto his. "Let's go, Simon. It's time to shop!" "Okay," Simon said, smiling. The incident earlier did not dampen his mood. With her arm around Simon's, Dixie said, "Are you sure that you're over Heidi? She's quite the pretty woman, you know." "Why wouldn't I be over her? She's pretty, sure, but I have seen what she's really like. She's just a cruel woman. No matter how pretty her face is, I will never find her beautiful again," Simon replied. "Okay. You're so dreamy." Dixie inched even closer toward him. "Hey, are you misunderstanding something? Can you stop getting so close? I'm not going to date Heidi anymore but that doesn't mean that I'm dating you!" Simon pulled away from her. This disappointed Dixie but she was glad that he did not push her away entirely. Holding his arm, she led him toward the clothing shops. She helped him pick out several pieces of clothing. There was no doubt that she had a good eye for fashion. Simon liked everything that she had picked out and when he put them out, those clothes made him look stylish and expensive. The impression that he gave off became entirely different. Dixie had an amazing discovery, too. Simon was not your run-of-the-mill rich kid. He truly did not care about the price tag when he shopped! There was a certain shirt that she liked but she did not ask for it due to its $2,000 price tag. All she said was that it would look good on him. Surprisingly, he bought it without hesitation. His promptness and lack of concern for money shocked and amazed her. Moreover, she realized that Simon was quite a generous person. He did not accept her as his girlfriend but he would ask to get her some clothes without her saying anything at all. He was not stingy either. Though she was quite embarrassed at first, his openness to her demands convinced her that he was both rich and charitable. She plucked up her courage and chose a few expensive clothes. He paid for them without saying anything. This made Dixie very happy and she developed an even better impression of him. They left the mall after they were finished shopping. Simon asked, "Where are you going now?" "I'm... I'm a bit tired. Can you take me somewhere I can rest?" Dixie said shyly. "Rest? Where?" Simon looked confused. She could not tell if he truly did not get the hint or if he was just faking it. "I mean... a hotel room where we can rest." She had no choice but to put it out in the open. If she could get her clutches on this rich and generous young man, she would have nothing to worry about for the rest of her life. She had no choice but to take the initiative. "Hotel room? For what? Can't you go back to your dorm? I'm going back to campus anyway. Let's just go back to our dorms," Simon retorted steadfastly, acting like he could not take a hint at all. "Our dorms suck. How can we get a good rest there? You're so rich. You're not going to skimp out on a hotel room, are you?" Dixie did not care if he was faking it or not. She was determined to make him hers. "Fine. I will get you a room. Which motel are you thinking of? I will get you a room there." "You're joking! I don't want a motel, I want a hotel," Dixie replied. "Motel? Hotel? What's the difference?" Luo Jianghao was stunned. "Hotels are better! I can't believe you don't know that. Did you come from Mars or something?" Dixie said helplessly. "Okay, okay, a hotel it is. The most expensive hotel in Wimborne, okay?" His reply convinced Dixie that she was getting somewhere. So, she nodded bashfully. "We can't leave through the main entrance then. We can't let Katya see us. If she knows that I'm taking you to a hotel, she will stop me," Simon said. "By the way, why don't you go yourself? I will give you the money." Dixie nearly had a mental breakdown after hearing this. F*ck, she cursed in her head. Was Simon immune to all hints? "No! You have to take me," Dixie insisted, her stubbornness acting up. She was determined to make Simon her boyfriend tonight, come hell or high water. "Okay, okay, I will take you. Jeez, you're so hard to please." Simon had no choice but to go with Dixie. They left through the back entrance of the mall and took a cab to the most expensive hotel in Wimborne, Eala Hotel, where Simon asked for a presidential suite.
