DANTE’S POV
I paced my office long after the sun had gone down, long after the pack had gone quiet. The walls felt too tight, the air too warm, my thoughts too loud. I couldn’t stop thinking about what had just happened, about what I had just done. I knew she was hurt but I kept reminding myself that this was something that had to be done.
I told myself I’d done the right thing…its what I had been telling myself since it happened but somehow I just couldn’t convince myself of that. Selene needed to know that this bond wouldn’t weaken me. That I would not be ruled by softness, sentiment, or… love. She needed to understand that I could take her, claim her, touch her without falling prey to the pull between us. Without losing myself. And at the time, it felt like the only choice.
