As soon as Jaxson left the tent, all hell broke loose. There was a loud explosion that rocked the ground, followed by gunfire and shouting.
Hunter threw me to the floor and covered my body with his faster than I could process what was happening. Maddox was fast to react too. He grabbed the rifle next to the bed and pointed it toward the door before slowly approaching it and throwing the flat to the tent open so he could see outside. He briefly left the tent before returning inside, looking concerned.
My heart was pounding hard in my chest, and there was a buzzing sound in my head from how loud the explosion was. Once I realized what was happening, the first thing I felt was fear. Jaxson had left the tent only seconds before the explosion. Was he okay?
