Anthony I walked into the hospital room and my Meg was connected to all sorts of wires and tubes. She was pale, and I could hear the heartbeat of the little life growing inside her. Her breathing was steady, and I checked her from head to toe to make sure there were no broken bones that had grown back in the wrong position. They still had the neck brace on her, but it was standard procedure until the doctors were sure that her neck and back were stable.
