“THE f**k?” tanong ni Kayden para muli niyang maitaas ang mga kamay.
Napahalakhak ang lahat kaya naman umingos lamang si Kayden at uminom ng alak. Kayden is not this tense before. Either, he would laugh at the joke or throw some words back. Ever since he pulled the act on Ayden's twin, he was never the same before. He becomes more serious. More stressed. And he understands because basically, Kayden doesn't own his life anymore.
“I miss teasing you. If Kyron’s here, he would have sided with me,” ani Wyatt at ngumisi.
He saw how Kayden rolled her eyes and drink some Mikhail whiskey from the bottle.
“Yeah, and if Kyron's here, I would have punched him in the face,” pag-apila ni Xavier at ikinuyom ang mga kamay. “Sabi niya ako magiging ninong ni Kyria and Kyro tapos naging si Isaac. Pota! Matagal na iyon pero hindi pa rin mawala sa isip ko. Nagngitngitngit pa rin ako sa tuwing nakikita ko si Kyron. Hindi lang ako makabuwelo kasi palagi nandiyan si Mika.”
“Chill, mag aanak pa iyon ng sunod,” wika ni Cooper at pumalatak. “Huwag ka mag-aalala.”
“I can’t chill. After Kyron's attempt of killing himself, I don't think I can chill. Tinatantiya talaga ni Kyron ang pasensya ko,” wika ni Xavier at umigting ang panga. “Bwesit talaga iyong taong iyon kahit kailan! Humanda lang siya kapag pumasok na ulit si Mika sa office kasi panigurado ihahatid iyon ni Kyron, bugbog-sarado iyon sa akin.”
“And you think Mika would allow that?” tanong ni Kayden at pumalatak. “Can’t you see how scary Mika is? If you want to still live, don’t ever think about it. Think about Gersy.”
“Yeah... thanks for reminding me that,” malat na tugon ni Xavier at huminga nang malalim. Marahil muli pa itong magrereklamo ngunit isinarado na nito ang bibig at sa halip ay uminom na lamang.
“Anyways, there's a private welcome party in the house this Friday night, Carter will be in charge of cooking so yeah,” pahayag ni Wyatt nang tumahimik na ang lahat. “You can invite Heather, too, Jackson.”
Tumingin lamang si Jackson sa kanya bago siya pinataasan ng hinlalato. When he smirked at the reply, Jackson snatched the Mikhail from Kayden and drink from the bottle. He would really know if his friends were hiding something, either they pretend to not budge about the jest or they will drink from the bottle. Six years of being parted with them yet they still have the same mannerism aside from Isaac who can't be read since he is good at hiding his emotions.
“You know?” nagtataka na tanong ni Cooper.
“I know everything,” sagot ni Wyatt at naningkit ang mga mata. “Kidding, I saw on the headline that Jackson and Heather meet somewhere on Zacharias suite last Thursday. Everybody says it's about a case but I don't see Jackson's briefcase.” Ngumisi siya kay Jackson na seryoso ang reaksyon na nakikinig sa kanya. “Tell me I’m wrong.”
“You're not entirely wrong...” sagot ni Jackson para gulat na mapatingin ang lahat dito.
“Are you guys already f*****g?” palahaw ni Kayden at ngumisi.
“We're not f*****g. I accompany her as a friend,” depensa ni Jackson. “She needed a friend.”
“But friends don't know each other's flavor, do they?” nanunukat na tanong ni Wyatt.
“Do you mean yourself?” balik-tanong ni Jackson.
“Madison and I are not f*****g,” diretsahang sagot ni Wyatt at sumimsim ng alak.
He saw how Jackson's eyes squint when he drink from the bottle as well. His eyebrows shot up when he did the same as others. It turns out he's not different if tense.
“I never said you guys f**k. You don't have to be so defensive,” wika ni Jackson at nang-aasar na bumuga nang marahas na hangin.
“I am not being defensive,” kalma na depensa ni Wyatt.
“Well, humor me because pigs can definetely fly, Hernandez,” tugon ni Jackson para mapatingin siya dito nang diretso sa mga mata nito. “Solid burn.”
“Back to you, Cruz, you know exactly what I mean,” sagot ni Wyatt para tumugon ito sa pagtitigan. “Solid burn, returned.”
Him and Jackson has always been the game-changer in the circle and seeing him back on throwing some taunting words, bring back the old days as they advance in college. Kung hindi lamang siya naging matagumpay sa pagiging atleta ay nakikita niya na ang sarili na kinakalaban sa puwesto nitong bilang isang bantog na attorney.
“It’s good to have you back,” ani Jackson kalaunan at nakipagkamay sa kanya.
Tinugunan niya ang nais ni Jackson at nakipagkamay habang tumatango-tango. “Yeah, I'm glad I went home.”
“Akala ko magsusuntukan na kayo, eh. Sayang,” ani Cooper at umiling-iling. “I miss the three. Having a wife and kids will totally bring out a man in them. They're legends. Handling the Amazona's well, what do you know? Couldn't even think of myself doing the same thing.”
“Same,” sabay-sabay nilang tugon at napahalakhak.
“YOU’RE so nakaka-asar talaga, you forget my pag-uwi,” wika ni Sabrina nang humiwalay ito sa mahigpit niyang pagkayakap.
“I am so worried about Annie’s consistent absences, that totally slipped out of my mind, Sab. I’m sorry...” malungkot na wika ni Madison sa kanyang kaibigan na si Sabrina bago sinalat ang pisngi. “You're so beautiful, Paris must have been treating you so well and is such a good place to win a Grand Prix, isn't it?”
”Yes, kind of, Madi. It is such an honor to bring the Philippines name on top, and it was my favorite place so I did my best,” wika ni Sabrina, bakas sa tono ang puno ng kagalakan. “But since I am back in the Philippines. I am going to chill my ass off. I will be with you and Annie and would help here in the clinic.”
“Oh, that's so good of you because November is coming and a lot of mothers will definitely labor in that month,” pagbibigay-alam ni Madison bago nakakaloko na ngumiti sa kaibigan.
“Yes, alam ko. It's because of the damn month of love February... but will you really let me keep guessing with the man who drives us here?” tanong ni Sabrina para bigla niyang maalala si Wyatt.
“Oh, god... that's right. I need to thank Wyatt,” palahaw ni Madison sabay sapo sa ulo. “I have been so distracted lately, I keep forgetting things.”
“Thank lang ba talaga?” tudyo ni Annie para mag-init ang kanyang mga mukha. “Huwag ka ng mahiya, Madison. Kilala na kita. Isa kang marupok na hatdog, hindi mo ako maloloko. Alam kong hindi lang thank you ang plano mong gawin kay Wyatt mamaya.”
When Sabrina saw how her cheeks flushed because of Annie's words, Sabrina squealed like a bird and pushed her, making her smile widely and cover her face.
“Is that really Wyatt? The best friend you like for almost two dekada you told us?” hindi makapaniwalang tanong ni Sabrina, pinipigilan ang pagtili. “Tell me honestly. Have you two f****d already?”
Nang mas lalong namula ang kanyang pisngi ay pinagtutulak siya ni Sabrina at pinaghahampas. Annie just shrugged as if she expected Sabrina to do that.
”Yes, we did!” sagot ni Madison at sumabay sa tili ni Sabrina. “Twice. And yes, Sab. I'm going to reward him with a thank you s*x tonight.”
