“Mr. Chase, I am so glad you could make it this evening,” Eleanor said, her voice smooth and perfectly poised as she glided up to them.
After a few more minutes of standing near the terrace to greet the incoming rush, she had eventually made her way across the ballroom toward Serenity and her father, fully realizing they weren’t going to take the initiative to come to her.
“We appreciate the invitation,” Calloway replied, his voice level as he stared up at the older woman from his wheelchair, matching her formal demeanor.
“Of course,” Eleanor answered smoothly, her sharp eyes shifting until they found Serenity. “Serenity, my, don’t you look stunning in that dress?”
“I actually think the dress looks good because it’s on her,” Evan commented, stepping in naturally.
