“Hey, you’re back,” Leo said, turning his head as he spotted Evan walking up to their small circle.
“Yeah, sorry that took longer than I wanted it to,” Evan quickly apologized. His words were directed at the group, but his eyes were instantly locked onto Serenity, completely ignoring the rest of the crowded ballroom.
“That’s okay. We were doing just fine without you,” Serenity teased, a playful glint in her eyes.
“Doing fine and doing splendid are two different things, Serenity. I would expect you to be fine without me, but if you were doing splendid, then I’d be worried,” Evan replied smoothly.
