Have you heard the news? Our Alpha has lost his mate, and between that and the alcohol, I think he is losing his mind.

Have you heard the news? Our pack is getting new members. There is just one catch... one of them has a secret... a big one.

Lara Grayson is the daughter of one of the cruellest Alpha's the werewolf world has ever seen. After the death of his mate, Alpha Grayson became ruthless, controlling his pack with an iron fist and fear.

Lara has seen the worst of what her father is capable of doing.

Having run their household after the death of her mother, she is no stranger to hard work and loneliness. Her father has been distant since her mother's death, numbing the pain of his loss with alcohol and a string of casual affairs.

When new pack members arrive Lara thinks it is just like any other time new members have joined the pack. But then she finds out that one of her new pack members has a secret. A deadly one.

When Lara discovers that her new secretive pack member is also her fated mate, it is the beginning of a series of deadly events that will have the pack members on edge waiting to see how this deadly story will play out.

Prologue
Lara I watched as the Omegas of our pack were putting the last touches to a project, that they had been working on for the past ten months. Word around the pack was that the Alpha had been really secretive about the job he had the Omegas working on. No one knew what they were building, or why. The word among the Omegas was that the Alpha had given them specific instructions on how he wanted the structure built and they had been given free rein to make the structure he had envisioned a reality. As I looked at the structure before me, I could see that the structure had been dug out in the shape of a large circle. The circle was about fifty foot in diameter. It was easy for me to see that bricks and concrete had been installed around the inner walls of the circle. The bricks had been covered with concrete that had been smoothed over the bricks. Seeing it, I felt my chest tighten and my anxiety spike. The way that the concrete was smoothed over the bricks, I knew it would be impossible to climb out of the circular structure if one were to get stuck inside of it. On one section of the inner walls, there was a shape that from where I was standing, appeared to be a metal door. Even from where I was standing, I could see that the door looked heavy. It was made out of thick metal. The bricks and concrete that lined the inner walls of the structure stood twenty feet high. Around the outer edge of the circle, at the very top there was a concrete viewing platform. I had no idea why any Alpha would decide to build a structure such as this. It was a strange thing to have on pack land, especially out in the open like this. As I looked at the structure, it reminded me of the Roman Colosseum. Why we would ever need something like that monstrosity on our pack territory, only the Moon Goddess knew. “Impressive, isn’t it?” a voice asked from behind me. I turned towards the direction the voice had come from and saw my father, Alpha Grayson, standing there. He was looking at the structure the Omegas were building with something akin to admiration upon his face. “What is it supposed to be?” I asked, looking back towards the structure I had been picking apart only seconds before without bothering to answer his question. “Well, you will see for yourself this afternoon,” he replied, looking incredibly happy with himself. “I will be putting the arena to use and the whole pack will be present for the event. It will be a wonderful display of things to come.” “The arena?” I asked, looking at him once more. “That’s right. This beauty is going to be put to use quite frequently,” he added, looking at the arena in admiration once more. The look on his face as he gazed at the arena made me feel nervous, like there was something terrible just around the corner. He turned to look at me and asked, “Don’t you have something you should be doing right about now?” “Yes Alpha,” I replied, nodding to him in respect before heading off to do my morning chores. Later that afternoon, my father called a meeting at the new arena. The whole pack had gathered there, excited to hear what the Alpha had to say. As I looked around, I could see that the majority of the pack were looking at the structure excitedly. Seeing the finished structure had everyone talking and wondering what was to come now that the Omegas had finished building. Seeing them excited had a knot forming in my stomach. I had a bad feeling about this structure. The members of the pack didn’t have to wait long for my father to call for silence and begin to speak to the gathered pack members. “Good afternoon, everybody,” the father announced after everyone had arrived. “So, as you can see, the project I had the Omegas working on is finally finished. Now, I know there are going to be people who are wondering what this structure is used for, and right now I am happy to tell you all about it. So, this is the arena that will be used for what I am going to refer to as the Omega’s challenge. The challenge works using a lottery system. So, what I need is for all of the Omega’s over the age of forty to line up for me. You will each draw a ticket out of the bucket as it is brought to you. Okay, get into three lines now. Hurry now. I don’t have all day.” I watched as the Omegas who were forty and over all quickly lined up into three lines just as my father had instructed them to do. Once they had all lined up, three pack warriors carried buckets along the lines. I watched as the Omegas in each of those lines began to reach into the buckets and draw out a lottery ticket like they had been told too. Once everyone had a ticket my father spoke once more, “Okay, so, if you drew out a ticket with a red number on it, I need you to raise your hand.” I watched as a number of hands shot up into the air. My father looked around at the raised hands and nodded. “Okay, good. Now those of you with the black numbered tickets can put their tickets into the buckets being brought down the lines by the warriors standing at the head of each of the lines. Once those with black numbered tickets have put their tickets into the buckets, then they can go back to your families and friends. Those who drew out red numbers, please follow Beta Scott,” my father instructed. The Omegas who had drawn out red numbered tickets began to follow Beta Scott. I watched them with a sense of dread, and it wasn’t long before they were out of sight. “Okay, so while we are waiting for Beta Scott to get those Omegas situated. I will ask that you all find a good spot where you can easily see the centre of the arena,” my father instructed. We all began to move and get into spots where we could easily see the entire floor area of the arena. We didn’t have to wait long before the metal door on the inside of the arena opened. A moment later, Beta Scott stepped into the arena. I watched as he held the door open, and gestured for the Omegas to enter into the arena with him. Once they were all inside the arena, Beta Scott stepped back through the door and out of the arena. He shut the door behind him, locking the Omegas in the arena. “Okay, so now that Beta Scott has exited the arena, we will be able to get started. Omegas in the arena, shift into your wolf forms please,” my father instructed them. I watched as the Omegas looked between each other in confusion. I noticed a few of them were looking up to where the pack was watching them, as if the faces of those above them suddenly held the answers for them. A moment later, they began doing as they had been instructed to do, shifting into their wolf forms. The Omegas had only been in their wolf form for about thirty seconds when the metal door opened again and other people entered the arena. “Okay, the training warriors have now entered the arena. So, the challenge is about to begin. Omegas prepare to defend yourselves,” my father announced. As soon as he said that, I heard a collective gasp go through the pack as everyone standing on the viewing platform suddenly realised what was about to happen. “Judging by the gasp I just heard, it seems as though people have now cottoned onto what is about to take place. So, from now on this is what will happen. The Omegas will draw tickets out of the buckets, and if they get a red ticket, they will fight to the death against my warrior students who are still in training. The challenges that take place in this arena is for my own personal pleasure. No other reason. The reason I have chosen to handle the Omega situation this way is because we are getting too high a number of Omegas within this pack. This will help me to lower the number of Omegas we have in this pack. “Wait… you cannot be serious Alpha. This is murder,” one of the pack members said, walking up to where my father was standing on the viewing platform. “Would you like to go down there and join them?” my father demanded glaring at her. “Because I can send you down there to join them if you want me to,” he added, still glaring at her. “No Alpha,” she replied, bowing her head in submission as she quickly backed away from him. “Get out of my sight,” he growled at her. The woman lowered her gaze and walked back to her spot on the viewing platform. “Trainees, shift into your wolf form,” my father shouted. The trainee warriors shifted into their wolf forms and the moment they were all in wolf form, my father shouted, “Fight!” The pack warriors lunged towards the Omegas and the blood bath began.
