I was in the small cave, still in my wolf form listening to the flowing creek water. There were no sounds other than the creek. No birds were chirping, no bees were buzzing. Everything was just… silent. With how quiet everything was, you would think I would have found it easy to relax. But I couldn’t. I was on edge. My heart was racing. I didn’t know what I was going to do. I now wore the mark of the Alpha. What if I was pregnant with his cub? What was I going to tell Lara? She and I were close, but would this cause problems for us? Would she resent me if she knew I was her father’s second chance mate?
I heard the snapping of a twig outside the cave and I felt my anxiety spike. Was there someone out there? Or was it just a random animal passing by?
