Chapter 6

Lara Cleaning up my father’s room was an eye-opening experience. We had started picking up the clothing that had been thrown around every which way. As I was cleaning the horrible mess up, Tiffany stormed into the bedroom and demanded, “What are you doing in the Alpha’s bedroom?” “The cleaning fairies are on strike and we drew the short straw, clearly,” Phoenix snapped rolling her eyes in annoyance. “Cleaning. What does it look like?” I snapped. Tiffany looked around the room and said, “Well, it looks like the Alpha had a fun night.” Looking back at me, she asked, “Did you know anything about this?” “No. Why would I? I’m not my father’s keeper,” I replied, feeling disgusted that she would even ask that. “Does she think we plan his play dates?” Phoenix asked, feeling outraged at Tiffany. “Clearly she ain’t the brightest bulb in the house,” I replied to Phoenix, making her laugh. “Well, it wouldn’t have mattered if you had any part in this little gathering of his last night. You will never be able to find anyone who can please him the way I do,” she declared, giving me a smile that made her face look evil. “If he is seeing other girl’s then clearly, he isn’t very serious about her, right?” Phoenix asked, appearing to be confused by what she had just heard. “That would be my guess,” I told her. “So… why is she not upset?” Phoenix asked, trying to understand. “Because she seems to think that she has some kind of magical hold over our father. She thinks that what they have is something special. However, judging by the mess we have been left with to clean up today, I think that our father is just looking for a good time wherever he can find it. Basically, his mindset appears to be, any girl will do,” I explained. Finally grasping the situation, Phoenix said, “Oh. Well, I guess someone had better explain that to Tiffany.” “I am not volunteering for that task. But if you would like to explain it to her, be my guest,” I stated, going back to cleaning the messy room. “No. No, I think she should hear it from the old man,” Phoenix said a moment later. “I mean, after all, he is the one who needs to break her of her disillusionment. She thinks she is going to be Luna, and the only one who can make that clear it ain’t going to happen is the old man.” Tiffany stood in the room watching me clean for a moment, then she said, “Well, I guess I will let you get back to work cleaning girl. Make sure this place is totally spotless. I don’t want any nasty surprises when I stop by to visit Grayson later.” With that, she left the room, letting me get on with my work. Once I had everything picked up off the floor, including items that had been kicked under the bed, I began taking loads of stuff to the laundry hamper, kitchen and bin. There was so much stuff it felt like it was going to take forever to get it cleaned up. Getting back to the bedroom, I began stripping the under sheet of the bed. I heard a loud clunk, and I looked and found something lodged between the mattress and the bedhead. I reached down grasping the item, and pulled it out. Holding the item between my fingers I found myself staring at a set of handcuffs. I looked closely at them. They were not the fuzzy type people had in s*x scenes in the movies. These ones looked like the ones that police officers used in television shows. “Why… would he… have those…?” Phoenix asked me slowly, appearing to be as confused as I was by our find. “It doesn’t matter why he has them or what he does with them. They are of no concern to us,” I told her, setting the handcuffs on the bedside table. Grabbing the under sheet, I stripped it off the bed and carried it down to the laundry. I threw the bed linens into the big top loader washing machine and got the load started, before throwing clothing into the front loader machine and getting that one started too. I knew the only way to get this place clean was to use both the washing machines simultaneously, then dry the washing in the clothes dryer. I grabbed fresh linens from the linen closet and set about making father’s bed. Once the bed was made, I stood back and looked around the room, making sure I hadn’t missed anything. I knew if I had, my father would never let me hear the end of it. “Well… it looks good to me…” Phoenix declared happily, looking around the bedroom. “Yeah, one more room taken care of,” I agreed with a sigh. “Well, now I guess we clean up that awful bathroom,” Phoenix sighed, lowering her head. “Yeah, best make a start hey,” I replied, walking into the ensuite bathroom. As soon as I entered the bathroom, I turned on the light and the exhaust fan. I began picking up the wet towels immediately, throwing them into the laundry hamper on top of my father’s dirty clothes. It wasn’t an ideal situation, but screw it. If my father wanted to act like an over grown child, then he could deal with wet items getting thrown on top of his good clothing. I carried the overloaded laundry hamper to the laundry room, and set it there for when the washing cycles were finished. Going back upstairs to the ensuite bathroom, I began picking up empty vodka and bourbon bottles and whipped cream cannisters. There were tubes of body chocolate strewn around the room as well. I just started carrying the discarded items downstairs to the kitchen, setting them on the kitchen bench right beside the sink. Once I had all the alcohol bottles out of the bathroom and in the kitchen, I grabbed some cleaning products and went back into the bathroom to start scrubbing everything. “Maybe you should put gloves on. We don’t want to catch anything,” Phoenix whispered. “My father doesn’t have gloves here for any of the household staff, you know that. So, we are out of luck with the gloves,” I reminded her. “What if we catch something? What if those skanks were walking STD farms?” she asked sounding worried about the thought of us catching something. “Pray to the Moon Goddess that we don’t, catch anything” I replied. Taking my suggestion seriously, Phoenix started praying quickly to the Moon Goddess for protection in a way that made me smile. It was almost like she was praying for our lives. Leaving her to it, I began scrubbing the vanity basin. Once I had gotten through cleaning the basin, I began scrubbing the extra-large hot tub that was in the right-hand corner of my father’s ensuite bathroom. “Oh, I shudder to think about the number of fluids stuck to the sides and bottom of this tub. Goddess knows there is not enough bleach in the world to properly clean this tub,” Phoenix stated, cringing and gagging. “Well, whatever they were doing in here, I am sure that they would tell you they had a good time,” I told her, making her begin to gag and cough even more. “Why did you have to say that?” Phoenix asked, “Oh the thought of what they were doing in here makes me feel nauseous.” “Well in our father’s defence, he doesn’t have a mate anymore. So, technically he is a free agent. Maybe he will find a second chance mate one day and live normally once more,” I told her. “Well, mate or not, he shouldn’t be fooling around with Tiffany,” Phoenix grumbled. “I know, but that is their business. We cannot get involved. To do so would be suicide,” I reminded her. “I know. I can’t wait until this pack is none of our business anymore. The sooner we leave here the better,” she stated. “I know. I am thinking about it all,” I assured her, as I continued with the cleaning of the hot tub.
