“I need you to start at the beginning, explain everything to me,” I blurted out. I was quickly realizing that I’d become so focused on convincing Maddie to help me that I’d forgotten the next step. Maybe I hadn’t actually really expected her to ever agree to this, but now that she had I had no idea what question to ask for. Or really what question to ask at all.
