CHAPTER 36: REALIZATION
He did not kill him, when he have the chance to do so.
Casper lies there on the falls, soaked hair, and wet body as he was left perplexed. The fear crept, it could have cripple him if it was knives which tentatively meant to kill him. He could feel Zachary’s blood thirst earlier, his uncontrolled wantons leading for his annihilation, but he did not. As he fell, barely moving, horrified as all escalated, all he can do was to watch as Zachary walked, not to murder him instantly, but to pick up the woman whom he have taken a fancy earlier.
Casper chuckled. His shoulder shook as it reverberated through into a full blown laughter.
“This is funny.” He said in spite of being horrified almost earlier.
His eyes move up ahead, he could feel the breeze as the sky hovered. The moment that the Vampire King left, the black and grey clouds also diminished. They are gone, bygone as he walked away carrying that woman. To whom he was curious, but surely, Casper could tell that she is his mate by the way how he was ready to kill a God for her. His strength he was unmatched of, Because Casper may have been a God, but he was cursed. To live on the realm, to the land instead of where the God’s should have been.
He was forsaken. Thrown after the war, because Casper is one of Zephyr’s allies.
“This bring me the old time.” His gaze moved towards his palms. He balled it into fist. Callous hands he used to aid the Goddess, who was currently imprisoned in abbyss, but it won’t take long. “If I have regain fully what I am capable of, even a Vampire King won’t be able to withstand me.” He whispered as he grins.
His face contorted with something bizarre as it lies. The eerie forest in combination with his avenging soul.
Zephyr would be coming soon.
On the other hand, Zachary carried back the still stunned Devon in the Palace. His chest was still beating, but the madness was easing by the mere touch of her. The fact that she was here now with them made his beast to lowered his madness, to repelled away his angst fury. He was fuelled he knew that he will be able to kill the God, only if he did not stop himself. But when his eyes settled across to Devon, who is standing in front of him. As that moment happens, Zachary could feel himself getting the control back more than his beast. The mere sight of her, which allowed him to be sane, no matter how crazy it was, because nobody had the ability nor had done it before.
If he kills, he would.
If he wanted somebody dead, he can do it in juts a blink of an eye.
Nevertheless, it feels like of he do it, Devon wpuld6virw him as somebody, a killer, a murderer to whom which he didn’t wanted her to see. If Zachary can, he would chose to shield her from the darkness he have, the unfathomable abyss his entire being yield. The past he had been conform, and the monster he is.
“Your majesty!” It was Helena who had first seen the arrival of the two. She was already on the Palace, clambering on her feet as she run to meet. But he was actually the person whom Zachary would summon, because she is the only one who would be able to help Devon. Her magic against the God’s enchantment.
“What happened?” When she had gotten closer, Zachary could see the worried look from the pools of her eyes. It was lingering, abhorrent as her gaze drifted to Devon’s unconscious form. “Oh my god!”
Helen look to him for an explanation.
“Casper.” Zachary uttered the God’s name with such contempt.
The same name whom Helena has been familiar with. It was because, both of them knew how troublesome the God was. Aid of Zephyr, the Goddess who started the dark ages that feared by many before. Forsaken, but sent to their kingdom as the Reinsworth is the only one who could contain the God until he was place, imprisoned for the punishment he should have. Banishment, whereas some of his power and ability was taken from him.
“That bastard!” Helena clenched her fist right before she urged her king to lay Devon on the couch.
“I’ll redo his enchantment.” She said.
Zachary nodded and do as what he’s been told. As of the moment, there’s no such thing about being offended just because he received some order from somebody. It doesn’t matter. What was his concerns probably was Devon to wake up soon. To tell he how sorry he was.
“What happened?” Soren walked in.
But nobody pay any heed on her, nor Zachary to whom she was expecting to smiled at her. She frowns, her smile vanished as she followed his line of sight. It was trained across towards the woman, who said was just a friend. A distasteful look flashed in front of her eyes. Her lips protruded, but she keep how much she despise her inside her chest. But she do not like the woman. It was as if on her point of view, Devon was trying to seduce and stole Zachary from her.
As if she would be able to succeed! Soren thought.
Meanwhile, Helena s**t down her orbs and place it on top of Devon’s temples. She could feel the barrier, the magic brimming all entirely to her. It was strong, firmly made, but she can redo it. She wasn’t just a sheer, a witch exactly for nothing.
Light luminesce began to shines brightly. It was blinding, which made the pair behind her to step back.
“O-ow! What are you doing?” Soren complain. She shielded her eyes, and step away from Helena, to where it was coming from.
“Just shut up for a moment, will you?” Helena bites of.
“What did you just—”
But one look coming from Zachary had literally shut her off.
You could how shock she was. His eyes are black, darkness looms, the shadows she have not seen before. Although, she admired him greatly, that doesn’t mean Soren did not get scared at the mere sight of him. He looks scary. Zachary as he stand tall reminds her greatly of the beast she had seen long ago during the war, whereas she partake of.
“I—I’m sorry.” Spitting away the memories, Soren choose to look away. She choose to forget than to look behind. She closed her eyes as Helena works to whom you could tell—both of them do not goes well from each other. There would always going to be argument as Helena, the seer with a witch blood doesn’t seems to be scared of her. He was bold, fearless, but Soren doesn’t really care as long as Helena wouldn’t place her claws around Zachary.
But it seems like she isn’t the only whom Soren should go and be worried about, it was that woman. Devon. And she is not sure whether she was just a mere friend just like how she had been introduce to her by Zachary.
Nevertheless one way or another nobody could stop what she is aiming for. This bring her the talk she had converse with her father.
“I heard that you wanted to summoned me.” Soren began after her arrival. The sturdy wooden floor felt hard on her soles. The room was spacious. It was large, but dark. Or perhaps, it was juts because her father preferred the darkness more than having a lighter room, when as a vampire and regardless of the myth circulation around their bloodline, they do not get burn underneath the sun. But being stake on the chest is what kill them.
“I am.” Soren’s father was sitting on his seat. He do not looks old, but he appears to be more mature. He looks young, similar to a middle age guy of a human breathen. But he looks strict. His lips protruded into a thin straight line, and the way he stared, it was intimidating, but never had Soren felt intimidated by the patriarch of their family. Regardless of being a woman, she was bold, one of the reason perhaps why his father had not questioned her ability to be the heiress of their family.
“What was it you that you need.” She said.
She was not beating around the Bush anymore.
“Please be seated first.” Her father gestured, inviting her to the empty wooden seat in front of him.
“That wouldn’t do, I won’t be staying long.” Soren shook her head.
“And why would it be?” Her father hums, asking curiously.
“I needed to go the Palace and meet the King.” She reposed.
“Ah, Zachary.” His father’s tone seems to be gratified.
“And I could tell by the looks of it that you summoned me regarding of him. Wasn’t it, father?” Soren raised her eyebrows.
She wasn’t a fool after all. She knew how much his father fancy the thought of Soren being wedded to Zach. By means of, she wasn’t even against with the idea. She likes him. Zachary is a man, whom Soren wouldn’t regret being arrange with as it commonly happens on their family. What made her worried was the existence of a mate. He believes on it, while she’s not. Because truthfully, what awaits for her mate if ever she has was torment. The powerful man of their family would force her to reject him or to whoever he is. She was a strong woman as she believes, but as long as she can still ask for it, Soren wouldn’t want to run across with her mate yet. Or not even meet him once.
“Yes, darling.” Her father laughs. “It was just your mother and I have discussed something with the council. It was just, they would want a heir presented for the Kingdom to whom Zachary couldn’t and won’t be able to produce since he was in firm refusal of marrying somebody.” He said.
“And you suggest that I would be the perfect bride of ever the council force him to?” She said, her guesses she knew that was exactly right.
“Yes.” Her father did not deny it even. “It will be more beneficial for our family at all. You rising on throne as Queen would make us invincible, you could have him, while the vampires, every vampires and creatures on our territory would bow on us too.”
“Don’t get ahead of yourself too much father.” Soren warned him. “You might have Ben forgetting that Zachary have a mate and so do I.”
“I am not.” But his smile told her otherwise. “I am just merely dreaming and of course—Ah, how can I forget that our king has a mate?”
“You did not, even if he haven’t meet her yet, I know the evil plotted inside of you.” Soren could read him like an open book.
She could see through his ambition.
“Don’t speak harshly darling.” His father chuckled, pouring some blood wine on the goblet on top of his table.
“I only speak the truth, father.” She said, matching his chuckles. “But don’t worry. I assure you that there wouldn’t be any force needed.” Her eyes narrowed as she picked her lips. “Zachary would be mine one way or another.”
If her father is evil, who could have inherited it?
As she was bring back from the present, she tore off her gaze from Zachary back to the lying woman. Devon’s unconscious form which she could tell would be the one who would stop her. There’s something on her to which Soren do not fancy at all. Her face she hated. Her voice she loathed, and the closeness she have with Zachary.
But it won’t be too long. The moment she secured the throne, she would make sure not to let her permitted inside the Palace. She will forbid her, throw Devon into a banishment she was planning or so she thought.
Unbeknownst to Soren, Devon meant something more for the Vampire King. A mate. The fated woman her father was trying to kill.
