CHAPTER 35: INSIDE THE ROYAL PALACE It is what she said, the guards had not questioned nor pay, neither they are curious to find who he is—who are you? Why are you here? We’re you with her all the time or are you the one she met with before this Palace halls? Nothing of sort, those were kept, or perhaps was it because what the woman told him was right. She was a noble blood, a royal daughter of an Alpha and so her actions no matter what would it be or who may have been she with, it doesn’t matter. She have power, and to get punish is something perhaps they were tying to find. After all, it wasn’t a good thing to angered an Alpha, especially if it concerns his daughter. The moment he finally made it inside, Ali couldn’t help his awe. It was striking, the marble floors, the statue of wolves—different rulers, who reign for ages, their ancestors, everything, even the photographs show the Royal family’s features, and not even had he expect how they fit the title. High ranked and high profiled wolves who were attractive, flawless skin, sharp jawline, and eyes, those hunting eyes, which imposed their dominion all over the Devonshire Kingdom. Their history lies, as well as the dark he overheard before, they are the sole one who fought until doom bleeds and they bathed, bask under their people’s own corpses. They defend land, a great king and queen who is not in thirst for power. “Come, quick.” Ysabella urged him. In a quick pace, Ali followed suit behind her, but still he couldn’t brushed off Matilde’s way of looking at him. It was if she couldn’t trust him with her lady’s well being. Ali could understand her, he knew how much Ysabella matters to her the way she treated her, not even judging when she found them together in the forest. But he also knew how curious she was. The intriguing questions she was trying to suppress and not spoilt the moment until they finally made it to her room. Ysabella’s room. However, Ali don’t think so that it would be a quick walk. The Palace halls is massive, enormous as the walls stood erect adjacent to each sides. They are made of gold, whereas an intricate design engrave towards the line which is also wrapped on them. It was wolves who were fighting against rogues. The sight made his stomach churned. He had almost forgotten that he haven’t ley them know yet that he is a rogue or Ali would be put into more trouble than what she is expecting to. Much worst, it would be Ysabella who’ll kill him the moment she finally get to know his identity. But not yet. He’s been this far, he couldn’t to back anymore in terms of fear, because Lily is waiting for her or he thought. Unbeknownst to the storm and the danger which befall to the friend he left on the village. ‘For Lily.’ Determined, Ali whispered inside his head.. Ali felt the old trousers he had been given and was left to borrow by the two women. To how they had gotten their hands on this, he was not pondering anymore. Inside, he could feel his palms settled on something hard, a vial he kept. The potion given to him by Lily to conceal his scent. She brew it. But that doesn’t reassured either way whether how long it could have run out, nor vanish and wears of. If they knew that they are gathering much attention, and so exactly that would be their go signal for a flight. To run away for their lives. “We are almost near.” Ysabella glanced on her shoulder. Ali nodded, but when they thought they did, and the moment they are finally getting closer, something happened. Ysabella bumped into a stones chest, chiseled as it may have been defined through hardships. “Prince Tarik! My lady!” Matilde gasped aloud. She quickly joined her on her side, and hold her arms in support. “Are you alright, my lady?” She asked, a little bit too worried as if she had just crashed a little harder, that she have fractured bones and all. Ysabella glance at her. “I am alright.” She smiled, tuning her hurt nose before she lowered her head, both did, having no choice and hearing who may have been the person, Ali do the same. If he wanted to stay alive, he needed to play safe. “I am sorry for bumping on you, Prince Tarik.” Ysabella whispered. It was so low, but thanks for the fact that they are wolves, and they have high hearing and senses more than to a normal human and witches. The man did not speak, but he walked past by at them. They are at that state, when his silhouette finally bygone as well as the soft thuds left by his heavy footsteps, which soon fade into unending halls. However, Ali feel different. Why does the Prince presence speak of a familiarity he couldn’t understand? His scent foretold as if they had been acquainted before, but when? When did it happen, when he could not even recall such events? The Prince, is it possible that they had meet before? On the other hand, Ysabella feel her chest. It was beating loudly, drumming across her ears as she tentatively listen. Erratically beating under the tension of her shoulders. “My lady?” Matilde calls, but she did not pay her any heed. She don’t understand or perhaps she just couldn’t. To see the Prince she is blind to marry and be with, of she survive the game, the tradition beheld as a custom of the Devonshire Kingdom. Is she still intimidated by him? She thinks so. The moment she finally regain her composure, Ysabella forced a smile on her lips. “Let’s go.” She said, but Matilde could see through her. Among all of her servants and to those person, who is around her, she is the only one who can read her like an open book. On the other hand, Tarik seems like he haven’t had enough sleep for days. That doesn’t lessen that he is still attractive, but deprive from how much he had stay wide-awake each night hangs on the black bags underneath his orbs. They are coiling, but nobody dare questioned him. But to add up, to what fueled his frustration more was when the Kingdom has been left under his care. Both of his parents are not currently present. They are in Salem, and adherent to the reports, an unknown disease had spread, sucking their magic. It was understandable that they would be gone for days, if not weeks until everything has been settled. But this also means, Tarik should stop shortly for seeking after, chasing after Devon, whom he still haven’t found. It was frustrating, what more was the dreams he would have which seems real. As if she was there on the aces where his head brings him affront. There, she was smiling either way then it would be replaced by scenarios whereas she would be seen broken, crying and bawling her eyes out as she whispered those words “Save me.” But save her from what? It’s driving him crazy, if only he could abandon his post and run on the forest, search towards the extent where he lost care on how tired or how far had he have gotten into. He just wanted her. They, his wolf even, they wanted her again to stay beside them. Only, if all wishes could be granted. And only if he could leave the Kingdom to Augustus, but he can’t. His brother is still being prepared, he have more things to be ready about than to lead it for now. Between them, the burdens is still on for Tarik. He may have been the second borne Prince, but it was like his duties are much heavier more than the one who is next in line to reign. “How was the search?” He asked. “We saw trails.” Duke answered. “Her scent was found across the boarders leading to another kingdom, your majesty.” “Had you confirmed it?” He pry. Suddenly hope blooms on his eyes. “We haven’t yet, but we sent spies, and that means of ever we decided to enter, we would need the permission from the inside.” Duke elaborated. “To what Kingdom whom it belongs to, you say?” Tarik. Frowns. “To the Vampires, the Reinsworth Kingdom, your majesty.” Hearing the name, Tarik was left stunned. Reinsworth Kingdom. How can he not know that they are inhabited by vampires and any other creatures who lurk in the dark? The blood sucking monster who had become their ally. However, long before it happens. It takes a lot of blood, of patience and sweat as they could trust each other. They were born as an enemy, to kill each other as their species fought for decades. But when the dark ages looms and destroy their home, the treaty has been decided. If they do not desire to get annihilated nor have their breathen extinct, then they should do and settled to what is a must. Friendship in spite of being foe as what fate dictates. And he is no fool not to know who is their ruler, Zachary Reinsworth, the man whom he had seen before, when he is younger. The memory is still fresh. It was that day, where the clouds are dark, ebony in color and grey. No stars loitered, but the shadows which continuously lingering as they seems to join their feast. Lighted torches is the only thing, which had given them luminosity. He peered, when his father laughs loudly, he is in a good mood, a pure bliss as the war ended. “My people. “ He raised his goblet. “May we thrive and live with peace now that we have it.” The wolves cheered, Luther made a tossed, not when a voice made an interference. “If so, does that include us?” All of a sudden, a man walked in. He looks pale, and he have pangs on each corner of his lips. They were sharp, but much smaller than compared to their canines, if they morphed into their wolf form. Some of the wolves who had seen the man growled, some cowered, but Luther, the King, The Alpha6King they had greeted the new comer. “My king.” He express his respect. “My apology, it is just that may people haven’t seen your kind so close.” “They do not?” As the man said those, there from the shadows as fast as the wind, they see them, Tarik see them with his eyes. The vampires came in numbers and their halls has been filled with them in spite of the ruins. They have the same features, the same pale skin, but it was the first man who had stood with an authority and dominion all over to them. “Who are they?” He asked to his mother, who remain calm on her seat. It was as if she knew that they would be here, as well as their father. She do not look surprised unlike most of their people. “It was Zachary.” His mother glanced at him. She was smiling. “He is another King same with your father.” She added. A vampire king, who stood more younger than Luther, much older than Tarik. Both have power. Both knew how to lead. Tarik closed his eyes for a moment as those memories came back to him. What more was he was getting curious. Intrigued at what could have been his mate deals with the vampires or was it because she had been captured? To enter a Kingdom one must have a pass, if not permitted and they are seen on their territory, they would get punished. Fear grips his chest for the first time. This farther, he look at Duke. “I wanted to have your reports today.” He ordered witch such authority brimming on his voice. The latter only lowered his head. “As what you said, your majesty.” Duke reassured him. But unbeknownst to him, the mate he seek or currently in danger. @cycy
