''His words hit the nail, like a bucket of water had been poured upon his head. Riley's words were straight to the point with, giving him no words of rebuttal. If Riley was indeed to be considered a bastard, then he as a father, how was he supposed to call himself. Alfred's veins bulged as his clenched his fist, his bloodshot eyes glared furiously at Riley's retreating back view but he didn't stop him. Just like Angel he was good at controlling his emotions, so he merely decided to ignore Riley as he let Angel escort him towards the sofa. Watching this scene from upstairs, Riley merely sneered and chanted the 'like father like daughter' slogan in his mind before walking off to his room nor caring about them. They often said daughters took from their mother while sons took from their father, but in the case of his family where the slogan like husband like wife's was effective, he wasn't surprised that Angel White took over both parents. One was pretentious and calculative, the other was cunning and cruel, while the other was an hypocrite, carrying the genes in her blood, letting both seep in her bones. And as for him, he couldn't be bothered with these people. *~*........*~* At the Rins, madam Rin had just gulped down a whole bowl of concoction prepared by her son. With tight brows, she forced herself to finish the bowl of medecine, while Serge cautiously stood by his side without saying a word. He couldn't tell how much bitter the medecine taste, but he had watched his mother gulp down all sort all medecine to relieve her pain. At times he even felt quite guilty about it, after all it was because his mother had wanted to give birth to him that she had this ailment, suffering from pain back and with legs that swell and hurt during cold weather. How wouldn't he be worried and try his best to help her relief her pain, it would have been good of he could take her pain for her, but he knew he couldn't even if he wanted. "How is it?" He asked cautiously, hoping the medecine worked better than the others, although it had barely been two days since his mother began taking the concoction, he really couldn't help hope that it could take effect as soon as possible. "Look at you, normally for a difficult ailment like mine it could take at least a week before the effects could be seen. Or others would act as pain killers, so I wasn't expecting much when you brought back this medecine, but I'm satisfied." After all she couldn't count how many drugs her body had accumulated over the years, but her none could cure her and it could only relief her pain. But it was obvious that the symptoms were still there. Giving birth to Serge had taken a toll for her body and even after all these years she hadn't recovered, but she didn't regret it. After her marriage, it had taken her quite an amount of efforts to be able to conceive this child of hers. When she was pregnant, so many complications had caused the doctor to advise her to abort the child, yet she persisted and gave birth with much difficulty. But it didn't matter, because once she saw the cute chubby face of her son, every pain she went seemed to fly away. She gave birth to an outstanding son he placed his mother's first interest before his. And she had a husband who loved and adored her, so any pain she had suffered was worth it. "Then..." Serge obviously didn't understand his mother's words, he couldn't even tell if she was being truthful or just comforting him. He recalled the last medecine his father had brought back, even though it wasn't effective, his mother had smiled warmly at them and claimed she was fine. But who could tell that she wasn't fine, they had indeed thought that she was fine and had neglected the fact that she was suffering. "It's fine if it doesn't work, we can look for other doctors, we would definitely find the cure." "What are you talking about, I'm really fine." Madam Rin insisted, seeing that Serge didn't seem to believe her at all. Well, she was also to be blamed after all she had previously feigned being fine just to please them. "I'm really serious, I'm perfectly fine. I don't know where you got the medecine but they're suite effective. At least I don't have insomnia anymore, you can ask your dad if you don't believe it." After thinking about it, Serge couldn't help but believe his mother. He had indeed realized that shedidn't look as haggard as she looked in the past, so he chose to believe her. After taking a sip of honey water to relieve the bitterness in her mouth, Madam Rin kept back the cup of tisane. "Besides, where did you get such an effective concoction. I feel that it's more effective than the previous ones." Thinking about the person that handed him the medecine, Auriane's exquisite features suddenly popped up in his mind. The girl's fair face and petite body lingered in his mind for a while, recalling how she had handed him the medecine as a form of gratitude towards his mother's help. He could tell from her personality that she wasn't the type to own debts and she always paid others who helped her. He hadn't thought much when he decided to give a helping hand, neither did his mother, but Auriane was stern and perfunctory, but she still had a warm side of hers. "Auriane gave it." Serge said without blinking. "Eh, isn't that Nora White's daughter?" Madam Rin had some impression of Auriane, though she wasn't familiar with her, she had many times heard about her from Nora who seem to dot on her sister a lot. But she had also heard a lot of negativity about this Auriane. "Yeah, I did hear a lot about that sister of hers, but she's nothing like her kind and considerate elder sister." Hearing his mother talk about Auriane with a negative thought, Serge couldn't help but frown, but he couldn't refute her words about rumors. He himself had heard a lot of rumors about Auriane in the past and it wasn't anything good. But after spending sometimes beside her and witnessing her cool and suave manner, he didn't mind that she was cold and standoffish. It didn't change the fact that she was a good person, but she was just bad at expressing herself. When they stayed together it was mostly they discussing, while she occasionally nodded or gave two or three straightforward reply. The only day she had said a lot could only probably be the day she spoke about her grievance and the White's injustice. She wasn't quite good at making friends and she didn't like body contact with others, which was why he always had to keep a distance from her. Apart from that, he couldn't consider Auriane as someone bad. "Aunty, you can't say that about fairy Ane." Stacey pouted once she walked in the living room and sat beside Madam Rin. Her hair was a little wet and she had the sweet fragrance of shampoo, which showed that she just had her bath. She was also dressed in a baggy pajamas that made her appear a little plump, but not less attractive. She even looked cute as she pouted at her aunty and leaned on her arm. "Fairy Ane?" Madam Rin was quite puzzled when her little niece abruptly came out talking about her fairy Ane, but weren't they talking about Nora's sister, when did it change to a certain fairy And? "Yes, Stacey thinks that Auriane is cool and pretty enough to be labeled a fairy." Serge explained, recalling Auriane's dainty features, her large ever green eyes that gave off an exotic charm. Her fair skin that glowed like the sun made really look like a fairy. The problem was, she was rather skinny that it made one fear that she might be pushed by the wind. He couldn't believe that such a petite person could do so many amazing things, causing him to doubt the skills that had once made him proud. "Is she that amazing?" Madam Rin asked as soon as Stacey finished praising Auriane with twinkling eyes. She had never seen her niece so enthusiastic about someone, though her bubbly character had attracted her alot of friends, she had never seen her so full of praises about those friends of hers. "Definitely, Aunt, you got to meet her, you would definitely like her " She meant it, her fairy Ane was so lovable, who wouldn't like her.
