Gerrard’s POV I can see the emotions rippling across her face as she stares at me, trying to absorb the fact that the space she’s in, our apartment, is just how she left it. When she walked away despite my pleas, a part of me wanted to change everything, wipe her from my mind and life. Immediately after it flitted into my mind, I knew that would never work. No matter how we met, or the lies between us, Zara and I were destined to be together and I could no more expunge her from my life than I could, carve out my own heart. Zara turns her back to me, her shoulders tense as she sweeps her gaze over the room in front of her again. I wait, silently for her to say something again, though the longer, time stretches between us, the more I start to worry that I might lose the battle I just won
