Chapter 76

620 Words
Shaking off the idea of my uneasy feeling, I silently walked to her side, wearing my most convincing smile while looking right at her scrutinizing eyes. I just hope that it is convincing enough. Enough to fill her curious mind. Suppressing my undeniable surge of confrontational nature, I stayed guarded. I wanted to confront her about what might be in her mind. Somehow, I realized that dealing with such a woman is pointless. Her cleverness is outstanding. Nevertheless, there is still this tingling feeling that urges me to explain to her, and I just want to stay at her side. “Hey,” I called out, slightly touching her neck base. “Hmmm?” She hummed, eyes following my every movement with still pressed lips. “Sorry ‘about earlier.” I apologized. She nodded and later on, a smile formed on her still slightly pressed lips. I'm not even sure if her smile was genuine or just a pretentious one. “What’s the matter?” She later asked the moment I sat on the armrest where she sat. “Work has been holding me up for the past few days.” pulling her hand and imprisoning it with mine. Showing her my sincerity and confidence towards her. Whether she gets it, that, I don't know. “That’s WORK, I understand.” emphasizing the word work before she beamed a smile. I giggled, rubbing my nape, and coyly smiled at her. “My work was becoming more and more like a nagging wife.” “Yeah, right.” “Another problem came in.” I started and reached for her hands. “Uhm, yeah. I understand. She nodded once again, then caught her ‘friend’ in my peripheral vision, staring at me. “You must be my wife’s friend?” I asked, directing her, to which she responded kindly. We exchanged a few greetings and a little chit-chat before bidding Ale goodbye. “Take care.” She called out. I could only nod back at her before turning to the main door, leaving them all behind with eyes still on me. Now, I am thinking that if witches could ever be true, then, I am bewitched by this woman. Only if I haven't known her for ages will I start to doubt her identity. I smirked at my own thoughts. I just hope that those magnifying glass-like eyes of hers don't see inside of me or I’ll be roasted. However, I understand if she acted this way. Despite the love and affection she got from her family, her unfathomable desire for revenge is undeniable. She trusts no one. Thus, everyone around will always have a hard time passing through her stone-built walls. It is a good thing that I had to make her agree to this setup, as now, she has slowly let her guard down. Her ice-built heart has been slowly melting. Somehow, my concern arises the moment I remember my situation with Candy. She will hate me and possibly kill me if she finds out. How am I going to explain this to her without getting her hurt? Should I tell her earlier or would it be better to keep it and let things go accordingly? I was so deep in this thought that I had not realized that I had finally reached my destination. “Candy Mondejar,” I called her name aloud while still sitting at the back of the steering wheel. How am I going to explain myself to her? I thought along with a deep sigh before going out of my car. I walk straight inside as people around here are already familiar with me, up the stairs and walk directly to her room.
