Chapter 77

There, I found her looking rather indignant. Candy, who was sitting silently in the middle of her room, looked calm. But the truth is, if you observe her more closely, the danger is everywhere as turbulent anger has been broiling inside her. I could perfectly sense it. Of course, because she is Candy Mondejar. This kind of behavior of hers is ten times scarier than her temper tantrums, one can't just shake it off. I stood still in the doorway. Waiting for her to recognize my arrival. Somehow, at some point, though she may have noticed me already, she still chose to ignore my presence completely. As if she hadn’t seen me coming. Am I invisible? Well... I just hope I am. I thought, shaking my head in disbelief. Never did she ever act this way towards me. Ever since we met, she has always been level-headed whenever I am around. Even when she was at her gruesome behavior, today's different. No, she has been acting strangely lately. I was still staring at her, as she stared blankly at the floor-to-ceiling window in front of her. Playing at the excessive smoke that she had been constantly puffing. It covered her entire face as she inhaled and puffed the smoke heavily one after the other. After that, she consecutively stubbed the barely consumed cigarettes. It showed how furious she was. Took a stick, lit, stub, and took a new one again. This cycle went on and on for a couple of minutes like she was waiting for something unjust. Until I can't sit still. This sight strained my eyes more and consumed my remaining patience towards the situation. This woman is crazy. It's not as if she was the only one who lost time. I lost a large sum too. Anyway, this all goes according to my plan, so it's okay. I have earned more than I lost. I smirked at the thought. Sighing from where I stood, I shook off all my inner thoughts and put up a face before I decided to slowly approach her with caution. Her stillness that exuded immense displeasure would send chills even amid your being that whoever was not familiar with this side of her would do nothing except start begging for their lives. “Candy…” I calmly called out for her attention. (silence) I waited for a little more for her to respond, but to my dismay, she just played deaf from my call. She never even threw a single glance at me, which made me enormously in a rage too. This woman is way more impossible. What is she so proud of? I angrily thought. "Candy, listen-" I tried to start to explain myself, but was stopped halfway through it. She stood up and walked to the balcony as if she didn't see me standing in front of her, still ignoring me. Closing my eyes, I inhaled deeply before I looked outside at the balcony where she was heading. I just have to play a little bit more. I have to be firm this time and in the future to carry out my plan smoothly. I followed her from behind silently, extending my patience as much as I could. This woman is superb in her temper. If I hadn't known you enough, I'm sure I'd be crawling now. I thought to myself while shaking in disbelief. Only if this woman hasn't loved me enough. “Hey, listen–” I continued to approach her in a very soft way while confidently gesturing my hands. When my words suddenly came to a halt voluntarily at the moment, she turned her head towards me and stared at me indifferently. Her eyes were sternly staring back at me like any time soon would devour me alive and whole. This sent a chilly feeling through my body. Freezing me, unable to move further near her. A shooting glare, warning that no one, even me, would dare to continue. Staring back directly into her eyes– I saw those eyes… Those very familiar and so similar eyes of someone I am close to. Those eyes that express anger and retribution, bold and deadly… were very much alike. No, not just similar… It was as if it was Ale’s. Or could it be because they share the same anger and the desire to get revenge? Looking at it, I was like looking at Ale just now. They mirror exactly each other. The only difference is that Ale still has her family around her, while Candy has no one. This wrath against each other has continued for generations already and has to be stopped. But how? Their desires are so strong that no one can go in between unless one has a death wish. Blinking repeatedly, I tried to shoo the images that formed in my imagination when Candy’s searing emotions caught my attention back. "Are you really with us?" She snapped back. "O-Of course," I responded, a bit disorganized. "I hope so, Dauis, as you already know the consequences of all this. Not that we are in this, but our partners will show no mercy to you." She warned. Taking in the cigarette again that she had been clipping in between her index and middle finger. "Who wants-" I was cut short when she blew the smoke right on my face. "I have warned you many times already, don't blame me in the future." She continued to speak and once again drew back the stick to her lips. In my annoyance, I grabbed the cigar from her still tightly clasped lips and brought it to mine as I drastically inhaled a large amount of tobacco smoke. Titled my head up and puffed it all above me. "Do you really think that I wanted it to happen too?" I asked angrily to her. She was shocked as she eyed me. Astounded at my outburst, because never did I even once raise a voice to her. at least not until now. "I have invested money, time, and effort too. Who wants this? Do you think I was just slumping around wasting all our efforts?" I said and paused a moment, waiting for her to respond. However, she remained silent, which was so unusual for her. "We are in this-" "Yeah, but, know this, I have considered it all, I have been considering you for so many reasons. Just don't f*ck up with me Dauis." She calmly warned "You know whether or not I am joking. This is way too serious." "Do you think I am playing around? I have been with you. Why are you doubting me now?" I asked, this time, calmer than I was earlier. I must understand her and show her that she can lean on me too." "I thought I had already known you, but I was wrong." Hearing her, I immediately threw the stick at the nearby ashtray and reached out to her hands that were fisting into a ball due to anger. Holding it between mine, and looked straight into her eyes, showing my sincerity. "You know that I am always with you." "Are you?" "Of course." She looked back at me, and after some time, whatever she may think, she, later on, pulled her hands from mine and slowly walked around. "Let's talk about this some other time." She called behind her back. "Just settle whatever problem we have right now." She continued before she walked out of the door. I was left speechless and confused by her actions. She had been showing this side of her that completely made me at a loss.
