Chapter 20 she's back

I thoroughly weigh for it overnight, and I’ve come to finally decide to face whatever I think my fate would bring me to. I know it isn’t the ideal life I wanted to live, hence, as this was already been decided, I have to obey my elders in any way possible now. Thinking about my family, my mom, and Roldan’s words, I guess I have to lay low a little about this place. This place was what I thought would be the fulfillment of my plans, including the tormenting execution.

I already executed a few, and later on killed those from the said group, due to no one having ever spilled out the information I wanted to gather. But I am already following a certain group, hoping that I am now on the right track.

Changing plans isn’t as easy as 1,2,3, but I will just set it aside for the time being. I need to be the daughter my dad expected me to be. Anyway, I still can do things along the way, and a few minor changes will be fine.

While preparing the Things, I need to bring with me home, Mang Kanor approached me and asked.

“My child, have you finally decided?” with gloomy eyes, he asked and sit down next to me.

“Yes Mang Kanor, but that is just for now. Surely, one day I will continue what I have already started, will you still help me?” I asked him back softly. He has long been retired and was once my mom’s senior. I’ve grown to get fond of him, He has been helping me, and become my mentor. Since mom is very close to his heart he also wanted to find justice for her too.

“Of course my child, I will always will, until my very last breath. I will always be by your side. Your mom is so dear to me and so you are. I am happy that you’ve come to my aide so I can teach you things that I once taught to your mother. And thanks to that finally, you’ve slowly changed your mind.”

“I thought for it, many times over the whole night, and Roldan was right, I am starting to become exactly the same person I hate the most.”

“That’s good that you consider that, I know somehow that one day, you will realize this. And I’m greatly sorry,” he said in a very sad voice. He averted his eyes and heaved a long sigh.

As I look into his eyes, it saddened me to see regrets in them.“For what?” I asked with furrowed brows and a frown. He look back up at me and shook his head while timidly smiling. A smile that doesn’t reach his eyes. It was a smile yet it contains loneliness and sorrow.

“For I tolerated you in doing such. I was so coward, that the thought of contradicting your desires will hurt you more, but I was wrong, what’s more, hurtful to see are you starting to lose yourself, and let yourself be eaten by your anger.”

“That’s okay, don't worry, honestly, it makes me feel strong inside,( Wink) and that is through your help. Don’t be so hard on yourself. You all helped me in different ways.” I smiled at him wholeheartedly and reached out to hug and give him a light kiss on his cheek.

“I know, I do child, but believe me when I say this, I know you more than anyone does. You are like an open book to me, opposite than the one you show yourself for the whole world to see,” he said while he pats lightly on my back.

“Is this goodbye?” he once more asked and hugged me back again. I later pulled myself away from him and stood up.

“No Mang Kanor. It’s just another way round. Trust me, I’m not done yet, not until justice is served. I will just open another door of opportunities, not the same as before, just minor changes.” I smiled, shrugged my shoulders, and turned around to pick up my things.

“But what if—”

“Wha if- what Mang Kanor?” I turned back to look at him, I asked immediately, not wasting a single moment as I sense panic in his voice.

“Never mind…” I stopped. I waited for him to continue, but he never. So I smiled consolingly at the old man.

“You can tell me, Mang Kanor, what is it that you seem so bothered?”

“Oh, n--never mind this old man child, uhuh, maybe because I will m-missed you, that’s it.” he reasoned out, stammering a bit.

I know he has something in mind that I couldn’t quite figure out, but knowing him, I can’t force him to speak. So I just smile and,

“I will miss you too and will surely call you Mang Kanor.” I bid goodbye.

“Take care of yourself, my child. God Bless you,” he called back.

“You too,” I said without turning back. Afraid to show him my tears, but what I am more afraid, of is that, if I turned back now, I will forget my current resolution.

‘Mom, guide me on my new path, should you be proud of me now?’ I silently thought before closing the door behind me. I know, it’ll be harder this time, but I’m not giving up.

Dauis POV

The constant ringing of my phone woke me up from my deep thoughts. I was very much wide awake, but my mind seemed to be not working properly.

I thought about my lies… and Ale. I don't know how will she react if she found out, but sure enough, I have to be ready. She will soon find out anyway. I pick up the phone and turned on the loudspeaker only to hear Allen’s happy voice.

“Hey, Dude!” greeted me from the other line immediately after I accepted it.

“Hey.”

“Ale has just called, she said that she’d be coming home to settle things.”

“That’s great to hear. Sure thing that she’s fine right?”

“What is that for?” he asked curiously.

“What?”

“You seemed upset?”

“Just lack of rest maybe.” I excused.

“Sure thing dude, come over here so we can all discuss the matter.” he invited, which I undoubtedly agreed to him.

I know Ale doesn’t like the idea of her grandfather arranging a marriage for her, but that’s the only thing she or they can do to keep their company from being shattered. I must help.

After Allen’s call ended, I immediately dialed Xander’s to inform him and stopped the search, but his phone is currently out of reach so I just leave a message.

I run downstairs and headed to my car, and drove to Alforque’s mansion. I have to hurry because I have to warn Ale first or else, I’m toast.

I just hope that she won’t kill me after hearing my lies. Ale is different from all other women, she is not so easy to please, I don’t know, but this makes me like her even more.

Her indifference always made me nervous.
