Chapter 56

1295 Words
Dauis cellular phone has been endlessly ringing at the point of perturbation. It was Candy, and he was avoiding her as much as he can in the past few days. But this woman is very persistent because she always gets what she wanted. As much as possible, he is avoiding any further conflict with Ale as she is pregnant and it’s not good for the baby. He can’t harm his child, and so before he could provoke Candy further this time, he took his phone and answered her call. “Hey babe, what’s up?” he greeted cheerfully, hiding the anxiousness in my voice to avoid her wrath. “Hi, where have you been? I’ve been calling you some time now and you are not answering.” She said. He can even see how he pouts her lips cutely yet arrogantly from the other line which sometimes looks disgusting. She is always like this, always demands an explanation for everything, while me, He, was expected to give whatever she wanted. Very opposite to his behavior towards others around. “Sorry, I was in the middle of the meeting when you called earlier so, I have to turn it into silent mode.” he quickly explained. “Okay, but next time, don't keep me waiting,” she demanded. “Okay,” I said wanting to end the call right away. “By the way, lately, you seemed to be avoiding me.” “Of course not, why is that?” he asked, putting some hint of curiosity in my voice. “Maybe because you’re busy with your pregnant sl*t. She’s been taking you away from me lately.” the way she spoke, alarmed him. She doesn't like to be rejected. “Sorry, she just needs me at this early stage, her pregnancy is very difficult and delicate. And she needs me.” He tried to explain kindly. But the woman from the other line has started to get agitated. “Then I am not?” “Please Candy, understand me.” he pleads for her understanding, but she is way more stubborn than to understand. “I hope that baby of her will be gone. Why not get rid of it and let us look for another woman to be our surrugate. That way, you don't have to follow her around and pour her your time.” She viciously suggested. “Candy!” he shoots a warning call to her. “Don’t dare do anything to her or else you will face my wrath. Not my baby Candy. I promise you, Ale, after she gave birth, but not now.” he angrily roar at her before he hung up the phone and slam his hands on his table. This can’t be, I must not let her harm them, thus I should do something and has to finish this all quickly before things escalate. He thought to himself. On the other hand, Candy who was recently scolded by Dauis was simmering with anger. Dauis has never acted this way towards her even once. But now that Ale is in the picture, Dauis has started changing his treatment of her. She has now become his second priority which she doesn’t like at all. And now, the baby’s presence has escalated this all leaving me nothing but only a spare hour. So, she thought of doing something of turning back the table again. “Ale Alforque, Your mother owes me with my parents’ life, you owe my brother, and now this. I must not allow you to be triumphant. You have to have to endure my anger.” she thought angrily while slamming everything that is within her reach. Everyone around her shooting panicked glances at each other, as there is no way they can contain the anger of their mistress except when her fiancee Dauis will do so. So, her nanny dialed his number and has been calling Dauis since Candy started throwing tantrums but to no avail, he was unreachable. This behavior lasted for like an hour, then she slummed herself on the floor tiredly still crying and swearing this woman’s name called Ale. She has been cursing her since then. If her curses and swearing could kill, sure enough, this woman name Ale has long been dead. She has been with Candy since she was young, and she perfectly understands Candy’s coming especially to those persons who she thought were involved in her family’s demise. Though their business is illegal, they remain a good employer to everyone. Thus, she never fails to advise Candy to stop this kind of life as this will only lead her to endless self-destruction. Candy has always thought that she was unloved, so when she met these Dauis, she quickly relied on him and put them on the pedestal. Dauis's constant flattering of her leads her remorseful heart to even aim for revenge… Ale’s POV After my call to Maria ended, I hurried to prepare myself for the check-up as his assistant will arrive in no time. As soon as I finish preparing, I sit downstairs, with the book in hand. So engrossed in reading that I forgot the time. Only then that I feel numbness I stood up and look for the time. It was almost past 12 when a car stopped outside. I hurl myself to the main door and saw the furious look of Dauis. He was busy fidgeting with his phone that he didn’t recognize me standing in the doorway. His face was so dark that anyone who would see this state will be intimidated, except me. So, I cough slowly to get his attention. He then look up in my direction and quickly masked his face with a beaming smile. I smile back at him sweetly as if I haven’t noticed his gloomy face during his arrival. “Hey, something came up?” I asked walking towards him. “Nothing, I had my meetings canceled so I can personally pick you up.” “That’s so sweet of you.” I complemented ad reached out to him and planted a kiss on his lips. He holds me in place as he deepens the kiss, but later on, pulls out immediately. “Did you have your lunch?” he later asked, averting his eyes from me. “No.” I shortly said, slowly retracting from him. I have so much in mind lately that has been stressing me. And those early calls that left me all caught up. “Let’s go then and have our lunch on the way,” he suggested, opening the passenger side for me. I was about to get in when suddenly, a piercing pain soar in my lower abdomen. “Ahh!!” I curled up in pain. “Ale?” He calls out. “Dauis, my stomach hurts.” I cried out in pain. Just then, hot liquid flowed down my thighs. My eyes widen when I saw the bloodstain on my palms when I reached down. Dauis, who saw me pale in horror thus, instantaneously pick me up and drive swiftly down the road. My constant cries paled him further. Swearing and cursing could be heard all over the car as we speed through the highway. It mirrors the fear he has been enduring. I too, while crying in pain, silently prayed for the baby to be okay. That the baby can make it and will stay strong for us too. I was feeling paler and paler with every second that passed, until, my vision started to become blurred. “Ale, hold on–” then, darkness enveloped me. All I can hear now is the faint calls of my name, then suddenly, I was slummed into the aby of darkness.
