The promise.

I shifted back to my human form, clothes still intact... and made my way to his office inside the pack house. My mother met me half way and linked her arm to mine. Some of the tension I felt disappeared just from my mother's smell. Funnily enough, my mother smelt like the flower she was named after... lilies. "Where have you been?" My father asks as soon as we enter his office. "Out." "Karla, you are the alpha of this pack, you should be here instead of taking off without telling anyone." He said, looking at me sternly. "I needed to think and be alone." "Thinking in a pub is hardly called being alone thinking!." "What is it that you want father? Like you said, I have a pack to run." "William will be joining us for a few days, so that the two of you can get acquainted." I moved closer to his desk and placed my hands on it, then drummed my nails on his desk. "I.WILL.NOT.MARRY.WILLAIM" I sneered. "You will! That is what's best!" Then I shifted... Shiro broke through without warning, pushing me to the back of her mind. She swiped left with her paw and the desk went flying out of the way... my father sat in his chair, eyes wide... he scrambled out of his seat, fear evident on his face as he stared at her... "What the f**k are you doing shiro?" I yelled at her. "He needs to know how serious we are. I won't hurt him, but I will damn well put fear in him." She answered. She stalked closer to him, and he tripped as he tried to get out of her way. She talked closer while he crawled back using his arms. He was on his back keeping his eyes on her. To the side of us, I hear movement, my mother. "Stay back, mother." She linked to our mother. Shiro's P.O.V "I have listened to you rambling on and on about my human marrying the vile alpha. I allowed her to do things her way, but it is no longer working, so you'll listen to me now, father. We will not be marrying William. Take this as a warning." I linked him, opening it, so Lily could hear it as well. "Shiro, you don't understand, she has to do this." "Why? Why is it so important to you that she marries a man that isn't even her mate? Our mate!" "It's the right thing to do." "The right thing for whom exactly? Together Karla and I made this pack stronger than it ever was. We don't need him, he can offer us nothing! So WHY?" I roared something else was going on here, and I wanted to know what it was. "Because I promised him... years ago... I... I promised him." "WHY?" This time he held his head in his hands. It wasn't a question, it was a command, one he had no choice but to answer. This was the reason I would rather let Karla ask for things than to demand them. My commands hurt, especially when I was angry. "I killed his mate..." He said, his voice trembling. I stalked closer, closing the last gap that was between us and placed my heavy paws on his chest. Lily moved forward again. "Stay back, Lily! This is between me and my father." I said, looking at her, she nodded. "You pawned us off all because of a promise you made to a man whose mate you killed? You could have told me about this!" He held his head in his hands as he groaned out in pain. "I... I had no choice... he had your mother hostage." I released the pressure of my paw on his chest but still held it in place. I turned to look at her again and she nodded once more. "So you know about this?" I asked her. "No, I didn't. This is the first time I have heard of this promise, but William held me hostage when I was still human." She linked to me. I turned back to face Ethan. "You will fix this, tell him the deal is off..." "Shiro... "FATHER! THE f*****g DEAL IS OFF. DO YOU WANT ME TO MARRY A f*****g COWARD? ONE THAT USES A DEFENSELESS WOMAN TO GET WHAT HE WANTS? I UNDERSTAND YOU FELT YOU OWED HIM BUT NOT THAT. I WON'T ALLOW IT AND IF HE DOESN'T ACCEPT I WILL DEAL WITH THE COWARD MYSELF." Ethan held his head, blood dripping from his ears and nose, and my claws sunk into the soft flesh of his chest... I bared my teeth at him growling... then dragged my paw down his chest with my claws still in his skin. He hissed but nodded. "I love my human. I love you and mom and I love my mate even though I haven't met him yet, but if you stand in my way, father, if you so much as try and talk me into marrying that coward... Then I ran. I let the threat hang in the air. He knew better than to cross or provoke me. "You said you wouldn't hurt him" Karla whispers. I can feel she hates the methods I used to get Ethan to listen, but she understands it needs to be done. "His a strong wolf he'll live." I ran, letting my legs take me as far as they could go. I thought of everything, my mate, why it was taking so long for me to find him, how my father kept this from me for so long, how he just assumed I would agree to this absurd agreement without a fight, how could he pawn me off. And if my mother was human at the time I wasn't even born, he made that deal even before he knew he would have a daughter. My mind raced with thoughts of how I would handle William if he didn't agree to the deal being off. I'll rip him to shreds if I have to. Then I heard tires screeching as someone slammed on their breaks. I felt a sharp pain in my hind legs and my head before everything went black... Jamie's P.O.V I couldn't get her out of my head. I thought that when I returned home she would be there waiting for me, but she was gone... if not for the sheets I found in the dryer I would have thought that she was just a fragment of my imagination. How could I have let her slip through my fingers? She would be getting married soon and that spurred on my need to find her. So I went back to that bar, but the owner couldn't help me all that much. He said she came in a few times. Sometimes she would stay away for months, then just returned. I asked him for the number he said her father called from, and he told me the number was private. He didn't even know her real name... I slammed my hand on the steering wheel. I should have asked for her name or even her number... then out of nowhere this large dog jumped out of the forest on the side of the road, and before I could swivel away I had already hit it.... s**t! f**k! I cussed to myself, I pulled over and got out of my car. I knelt down beside the god and for a moment I was taken aback by its size. The thing is f*****g huge. What kind of dog is this... there is only a little blood and I sigh in relief I didn't kill it. I scoop the thing in my arms and my body tingles. Its fur tickles my bare arms... it's heavy, but I get it in the back seat of my truck... What the f**k do I do with this thing now?
