Slow motion movie.

I hit the shower as soon as I got home. I have my own private place on the pack grounds and only come here when I need to hide from my father or when I need a break, and right now my father or mother cannot see what a mess I am right now. When I left his place, my heart felt so heavy... I woke up alone in sheets of my own blood. I wasn't expecting anything in return. I know it was just a one-time thing, maybe that wasn't even his real home... I didn't see any pictures of him around the place... and, worst of all, I didn't even bother to ask what his name was, but yet I felt as if I left something behind. Every time I closed my eyes I pictured him. Like a close-up, a slow-moving camera captures the beauty of a fountain. That's how his face and body played over and over in my mind... his scars, shoulders, arms, legs, face, eyes and everything else about him all played in that slow-motion movie. I took in a lung full of breath and exhaled... this was the last time I thought of him, I told myself... Then I remembered he had left me a note. In my hurried state to get out of there, I had completely forgotten about it. I finished up my shower... hurried my routine of brushing my teeth and hair, then getting dressed as fast as I could... his note had been burning a hole in the side of my face while tying up my hair... it was lying on my dressing table folded. With shaking hands, I picked up the note, but I couldn't bring myself to open it. If I wanted to forget him and move on, I couldn't hold on to this. I couldn't open it... "I thought we'd find you here" I turned on my heel and faced Peter. Behind him stood Goergina, my two best friends. "I needed a break, to think about things." "Oh, and you couldn't call us to help you get through this? We are your best friends, but we had to hear about your supposed marriage to William from the pack members." Peter continued "I will not marry him!" "Yet you take off, say nothing to any of us and then just return like it's nothing?" I sighed. Once Peter started, it was hard to get him to stop. Goergi took a seat on the sofa and smiled a wicked smile at me. I frowned at her, but she just shook her head. He continued to ramble on and on about how friends don't keep secrets and how we should lean on one another when things get hard, but I lost him along the way. Gray eyes were all I could picture... Peter and Goergi are twins. They have been my best friends for as long as I can remember, Peter being the protective one and Georgi the troublemaker, always getting us into some kind of trouble. When the time came for me to take over as alpha, I made Goergi my beta. Imagine the uproar it caused among the council members, but I didn't care. I was tired of men being in charge of everything and I made it clear that I was going to change certain things around here. Peter was my lead warrior, the best there ever was. I allowed women to train... ***Flash back*** "This is insane, she is changing everything!" "She is right here! Tell me Fergison, what if one of our women gets attacked. How will she protect herself if she is alone in the woods or out doing something hmm? Who will be there to protect her?" I asked. "That is why a woman should stay home on the pack grounds so that she can be protected!" He roared. My father sat to the side, allowing me to state my case. I spoke about this to him long before I called this meeting. He wasn't happy about it, but he didn't stop me either, which told me that even if he didn't agree with it, he had my back no matter what the outcome was. "Okay... and if the pack gets attacked and all the men are out there fighting... someone breaks into your home and rapes your mate or worse, kills her?" I questioned. "That is why we have the bunkers underground." "And tell me, Fergison, how many women didn't we lose over the years as they tried to get to the bunkers? How many men felt their mates died while they fought for the pack? How many of them were left paralyzed after they felt it? And how many of them died themselves before of the distraction?" Fergison opened and closed his mouth. My father smirked and the rest of them looked at Fergison for a reply, but we got none. They knew deep down I was right. I did my research. So many men died on the battlefield because they felt the pain of their mate dying... giving the rogues enough time to take him out. "It's something this pack has been doing wrong all these years. Rogues know our women can't defend themselves, so they go after them, making it easier for them to take our men out. If our women fought back it could make a difference." "Since your father made you alpha, you have been changing things just as you see fit. This isn't the way of the pack's law." He hissed again. "Since I became alpha, this pack has become stronger. Don't you dare lecture me on pack laws Fergison, not when you yourself are breaking them." He remained silent. He knew I knew about the things he had been doing. "Women will be free to train if they want to. They are not just made to bear your pups, cook your food or do your laundry... women will do just about anything to protect their pups and mate just as any man would. You never know she might even save one of your sorry asses one day." I said, then rose from my seat and walked out. ***End of flashback*** "You should read this, it's good." Goergi said, holding up the note. I was so lost in my thoughts I didn't even see her get up from her seat. "Whatever, it doesn't matter anymore, I won't be seeing him again." I said, walking to the door. "Wait, who are you talking about? Were you even listening to me?" Peter asked. "I love you, Peter, but sometimes your rambling gets too much." I said, smiling, then slipped out of the door. "Who is Georgi talking about? Who won't you be seeing again and what did I miss?" Shiro asked in the back of my mind. She had been blocked out from the entire thing because of the wolfsbane. "He is no one. Now let's go for a run please." I told her. We shifted in less than ten seconds, and she broke through the trees in a fast sprint. I took a back seat in her mind and watched through her eyes as she darted through the forest, her paws heavy on the ground below. She was a massive wolf bigger than my father's... she was faster than him too. The ground shook as she ran, her paws sinking into the dirt of the forest. I knew where she was headed. She liked lying down at the edge of the forest close to the human park... "What will we do?" She asked. "I don't know, finding our mate will be the best option for us." "What if what father said was true, what if he is not born yet?" She questioned. "Then we will wait for him. I will not marry William Shiro." We reached the edge of the forest, and she sank down with a heavy thud onto the ground, placing her large head on her front paws, listening to the humans talk about their problems she would give them advice mentally in my mind... I called this ease dropping, but she hated it when I told her that instead she said she was the person that listened... The one you don't even know you need, the one that listens without answering or even judging. We stayed here for a while until my father linked us. She groaned. "Where are you? Get back to the packhouse we need to talk." That was all he said. "Does he ever stop?" She asked me, then took off in the direction of the pack house.
