DAMON’s POV.
Uriel’s eyes opened wide as I grabbed her hand but before she could say a word, I pressed my index finger over my lips and signaled her to keep silent. Before she recovered, I pulled her away and I didn’t stop until we got to a secluded part of the pack house, that was when I finally let go of her hand and I saw her jaw clench together.
“How dare you touch me?” She snapped, her eyes rolling to the back of her head, “who gave you that right to even touch me, Damon”
“Oh, you still have this fiery spirit?” I scoffed as I leaned against the wall, my eyes not leaving her for even a moment. Uriel is one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen even though she upset me to the core of my being. Tall and slender with a hair full of locs, thanks to her African mother. Long legs that anyone would die for on the runway and a face like that of the moon goddess. I first met her during her mark and maybe ceremony with Felix when he invited me and since then…it has been nothing but hate between us. She doesn’t like me and I don’t like her either but we are bound together since her husband is my best friend and somehow I got roped into their family shenanigans.
“What do you want?” Uriel asks again folding her hands across her chest, “did you take me away so your best friend can have enough time to f**k someone enough to be his mother?”
I scoffed, biting down on my lips lightly,
“You are not asking the right questions, Uriel” I tell her again, “you know that right?”
“Look, I do now have time for this okay? Whatever distraction Felix asked you to be, tell him it didn’t work”
After she was done talking, Uriel turned around to leave but I grabbed a hold of her hand and pulled her closer to me again, making an appalled expression hover over her face.
“How dare you?” She shoved my hand away, “Don’t touch me again…
“It must have broken your heart to see your husband with another woman right? Even after you are pregnant for him”
“How did you even find out I was pregnant, Damon? Are you stalking me! Did Felix ask you to spy on me?”
“What do you think?”
She opened her mouth to talk but a call came through her phone and she immediately answered.
“Hello..yes….divorce papers?” Her countenance changed for the worst, “yes, tell Felix that I have refused to sign the papers. Period!”
Uriel angrily ended the call and slammed the phone against the wall and it shattered to the ground. I know how much she loved her husband, how much she adored him, how much she cherished him.
“Asshole!” She yelled but I immediately held onto her shoulders.
“You are pregnant. You shouldn’t stress yourself out”
“Like you care!” She gritted.
“I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t care, okay? Now quit acting like a f*****g child and calm down. It’s not good for your baby”
She didn't say anything but continued to look at me, waiting for me to say something. I have my reasons for stopping her from entering that room where she would find out about everything going on between Felix and her step mother. Let’s just say I was there in the nick of time.
“After you sign the papers tomorrow, come and meet me” I told her after a while and uriel’s forehead curved into a more angry expression.
“You must really think I am a fool, Damon. You know what? f**k you!”
“Do that or you are going to regret it”
“f**k you!” She hissed again and angrily walked off. This time I didn’t stop her. I know Felix would be done talking to her already so I just let her leave. What I did was give her a blank check and I was so sure she would use it when the time arrived, they always did.
I turned around and followed her back to the house, now I saw Felix seated on the porch with his phone against his ear, he looked rather upset. I didn’t need to ask, I could already guess what was going on.
“Bring them over to the house tomorrow!” He ordered before ending the call and slamming the phone on the table.
“What’s up?” I inquired as I lowered myself on the chair opposite him, “why do you look like you are about to unalive everyone?”
“Uriel refused to sign the papers” he sneered in anger, “that b***h”
“Well, you did not expect her to jump at the idea of divorcing you right?”
“I am offering her an alimony that will give her a comfortable life even if she decides not to work again for the rest of her life”
“And she was supposed to jump at it?” Felix can be really delusional at times and this is one of such times. Uriel was literally obsessed with him, how did he expect her to just agree to sign the papers just because he asked casually. He clearly didn’t know how much she loves and adores him.
“Well, what woman wouldn’t jump at the offer of money”
“Are we also talking about the same Uriel who has modeled for brands, who has a name for herself?”
“Oh please” Felix rolled his eyes, “she is nothing without me. Those brands took her in because I asked them, "Do you understand that?”
“Yeah, of course” a smirk forms at the edge of my lips as my eyes travel across the compound and I catch sight of Uriel and a few pack members. She was talking to them in what seemed like an instructional conversation. She has always been a phenomenal woman, too bad her energy and mine don’t match at all. It’s like her spirit irritates my demon and I am not ready to fight that yet.
“And Louisa” I dragged my gaze away from Uriel back to Felix who was busy on his phone, “what’s the deal?”
“You already know this man, I am in love with her”
“She is old enough”
“Well, I f**k her now!”
Felix has always been a chill person to me, we haven’t had any kind of issues since we became friends and it has been over ten years. We understand each other so well that it has made it easy for us to cohabit. People say a rouge and a real Alpha do not match but when it comes to Felix and I, we are like two peas in a pod. He tells me every single thing, I mean literally everything and i…..
“That aside, what’s going on with you?” His question pulled me out of my thoughts and I shoved them back into a box and slammed it close at the back of my head.
“What do you mean?”
“You look like you have something in your mind, you have that calculative look in your eyes again.
I scoffed, he knows me so well. That I am sure of.
“Well, I am fine, Felix” I told him, “but I will be leaving soon. I have a meeting with my pack members”
He started to laugh and I joined him. Right now, this was no longer about the funeral but a party. Uriel’s father was Felix’s father in law, of course he would get a befitting burial but that’s all there would ever be.
“A pack of outlaws!” He joked.
“Well, but it’s more feared than yours. Bring all of your members and I will tear them into pieces”
Even though we were both talking, my attention still remained on Uriel who is coming towards us now, looking angry as always.
“Here comes the big gun” I told Felix who didn’t even care, my best friend could be very cruel.
“We need to talk ,Felix!” She said as soon as she came to a halt in front of us.
“There is nothing to talk about” he retorted, “so sign the damn papers and let’s get this over with”
“You can’t do this to me, you can’t…
“Are you that desperate?” He interrupted her, “you are scared of living on your own? Is it money you want? I will give you as much as you want so sign the damn papers and get the hell out of my face”
“We are mates”
“Then I f*****g break our bond” he yelled, attracting the attention of the other pack members who immediately began to gather around.
“I, Felix Devanpool, reject you, Uriel Harvey as my wife and Luna. Any bond binding us is broken”
“I do not accept this rejection!”
I clenched my jaw together seeing how weak she looked, I thought she used to be feisty and full of fire. Why was she looking like she would die if he wasn’t in her life? The more I looked at her, the more upset I became but I only continued staring at the two of them without a word, my wolf was literally enjoying this.
“We are over and done, Uriel”
“But I am…..”
“You are done!” I interrupted them, cutting off her next words, “don’t you understand that?”
“It is not in your place to talk here, outlaw”
“It doesn’t change the fact” i answered with a wink, “if I was you, I would leave already, begging makes you look desperate”
She glared at me, cold hard stare that looked like she would f*****g kill me and my wolf if she had the opportunity right here and now.
“Heard that?” Felix quizzed, “so you call the lawyer and have the papers signed. Let’s not do too much, okay?”
Not waiting for his answer, he turned to the sea of eyes before he and started to talk, a cold hard tone that would send shivers down the spine of anyone.
“Today, Uriel is no longer your Luna” he announced, breaking her heart the more, “today, I have rejected her as Luna and giving her father a good burial is my last act of service to her and her family. You have a new Luna which will be introduced soon. For now, the bond between us…” he dragged his gaze back to his wife, “Is broken” cold, icy, lethal….
Uriel sniffed back as she stood there, taking in all the murmurs and side gestures from the people who once called her Luna, how times fly. I shut their conversation out and pulled out my phone before typing in a message.
“Prepare the guest room”
One simple message but it held a lot of weight and the next line of things. After I was done, I returned my attention to them, boredom written all over my face. I would be in my house now but I only came here to show Felix my support, Harvey didn’t mean anything to me, he wouldn’t even dare to stand in the room in which I stood.
“Do you accept this rejection?” Felix yelled as he grabbed a hand angrily and I balled my fist harder. What the hell? Couldn’t she stand up for herself?
“Do you?” His voice became deeper and his eyes became darker, he was letting his wolf instincts slip out.
“Yes” Uriel yelled out, much to the amazement of everyone, me, inclusive “I, Uriel Harvey accept your rejection and I hope our bond shatters into a billion pieces and we will never be able to reunite. As long as I live, let our generations never cross part. I, accept your rejection Alpha”
He finally let go of her and took a step back, his eyes not leaving her. I saw a flicker of emotions in his eyes for a brief moment but he immediately masked it up.
“Good, now get the f**k out of here” he warned.
“Send your lawyers to bring the papers to me when they are ready”
Uriel sniffed back a tear and turned to leave, her eyes dried. She was done, I could see it in her eyes.
“Walk of shame!” Felix called after her but she didn’t stop moving, Uriel only continued.
After she disappeared out of the premises, the other pack members began to disperse while Felix plopped down on the chair again, the smile on his face widening with each passing moment.
“Good radiance!” He muttered.
“Did you do the right thing though, Felix?”
“Do you think any man would want a woman who can’t even get pregnant!”
I didn’t say anything, I only kept staring at my best friend.
