CHAPTER EIGHT

1406 Words
URIEL’s POV. Here I was, seated across Felix whose gaze had not left me since I walked into his office. Earlier that morning, I received a message from him telling me to come sign the divorce papers. I would have refused but I didn’t want to prolong whatever was going on so I decided to come over. I met Louisa by the door and none of us acknowledged each other. Just the mere thought of her made me so upset that I wanted to gouge out her eyes and feed them to her wolf for food. The lawyer was saying something but I had already tuned him out a long time ago, I just wanted to be done and over with this case. I refuse to let Felix get to me again, he didn’t deserve any of the love I ever showed him. “You can sign here ma’am” the lawyer’s voice jolted me out of my train of thoughts and I finally looked up to see his huge frame towering above me. I took the paper and the pen from him as my eyes skimmed the paper. I have read everything before and how I wanted to take the huge alimony Felix was offering me. My life would be set but I didn’t want him to think that my life depended on his, I wanted him to know that I could survive without him. “Remove the alimony” I finally spoke out, surprising the two of them. “Do you want more?” Felix asked. “Maybe your old lover would need it more” my voice was laced with enough sarcasm and anger, “I don’t need it” Before any of them could say anything, I scribbled my signature on the paper and pulled my body off the chair, much to their surprise. “I hope you burn in hell, Felix” That was how I disappeared out of the office before the tears I was struggling to hold came bursting out. It was hard pretending not to care in front of him when I was madly in love with him. I loved him with everything inside of me and it was really hard. When I walked into that office, I wanted to just hug him and kiss him and tell him how much I wanted him but then again, the fact that he cheated on me with my step mother would never leave my mind. As soon as I stepped out of the building, I noticed a familiar person leaning against a bike. He was well built but he had a helmet over his head. He looked familiar but I couldn’t pinpoint who he was until he started to walk towards me and eventually came to a halt in front of me. “Done?” The stranger asked, his real voice muffled by the helmet. I took a step back but he takes another closer until his Perfume filters in. “Who are you?” “I will be the one to take you home” The stranger said after a few seconds of intense silence; “okay?” “Who are you?” I asked again. We stood in silence for a moment until he finally went ahead to remove his helmet and I gasped, it was Damon. Wasn’t he supposed to be at work? Why was he here? Does he want Felix to see him? I had a lot of questions in my head as we continued to stare at each other. “Happy now?” His deep baritone pulled me out of my train of thoughts, “I am here to take you home, Uriel” “I told you I was leaving and that I won’t stay right?” I inquired, folding my hands across my chest. He looked around and let out a heavy sigh before leaning closer to me, a wicked smirk forming at the edge of his lips. “I have no fear, Uriel” he whispered, “I do not care if Felix sees the two of us together but I am sure you will hate to be seen with someone you hate? I am also sure that you still love Felix, of course you will always do. Do you want him to misunderstand the fact that you left him and went for his best friend? Maybe he will think that you want to take revenge on him” His words made sense, even though u hated Damon, i could not possibly be seen with him. He annoys me so much, I hate him with everything inside of me. Without answering him, I started walking towards the bike. Why the heck would he even come with a bike? I was f*****g pregnant and he just chose to be foolish. “Don’t worry” he said behind me, “I won’t let you fall” Damon handed me a helmet and I angrily grabbed it from him, a laugh tore from his throat. He really looked more handsome when he smiled but that was a secret I was willing to take to my grave. “I have something to do at the Pack house” he announced as he climbed onto the bike, “but don’t worry, it won’t take long” I also climbed onto the bike but moved farther away from him, I didn’t want to touch him in any kind of way. “Sit properly, Uriel” he called out. “I am comfortable this way” I answered him. “You are f*****g pregnant” he sounded a bit pissed, “you will fall if I jerk this engine back to life so f*****g sit tight” Before I could respond, he jerked the engine back to life and I found myself holding onto his waist. He made mention of going to the pack house. Did he actually think that I would go with him to that death trap he called a pack house? He must be kidding himself and everything he knows. “Take me home” I said through the helmet but he didn’t say anything, he only continued driving through the heavy traffic of New York City and believe me when I say part of me felt excited yet cautious about the fetus in my stomach. I don’t want it to get hurt no matter what. Twenty minutes later, he pulled up in front of a gate and I alighted. This was different from the pack house I knew and it wasn’t hidden deep in the woods like I actually thought. “Where are we?” I asked as soon as I removed the helmet” “Did you think I was going to take you into the woods?” “Well…. “Chill, Uriel” he interrupted me again, “come with me” He grabbed a hold of my hand and led me into the gates. A few people were waiting in the house and from the look of things, they were also wolves. “Alpha” they bowed. “Where is he?” He asked and one of them pointed to a room. “Take care of her” he said to one of the ladies who nodded and stepped forward. Damon finally turned towards me, “I will be out in a jiffy okay? Take care of yourself” Before I could say anything, he walked towards the door while the lady led me to the other side of the house. My curiosity took the best of me. What was this place and why did he bring me here? “You… “Are you his mate?” Her question interrupted mine, “this is the first time the Alpha has brought a lady here” I almost gagged, mate? I would rather die than let that even sink in my head. “I am not his mate” “His girlfriend?” “No!” “Oh” she sounded a bit suspicious, “so what are you then? Alpha Damon never lets anyone come here” “What happens here?” She shrugged, a tiny smirk spreading over her lips, “we call this the slaughterhouse” I came to an abrupt halt, “what?” That was when the screams of someone from the other end of the hall alerted me and my eyes almost bugled out of their socket.
