CHAPTER ELEVEN

1650 Words
FELIX’s POV. I dropped the call and returned my focus to the woman who was seated beside me, a smirk lingering on her lips. “What’s going on in your mind?” I asked her, “why do you look so happy?” “Of course I am happy, Felix” Louisa responded, “I have waited for this for all of my life. Do you know how long I have waited so you could get rid of that wife of yours?” “She is gone now” I told her as my mind drifted off to the pain in her eyes when I asked her to sign the divorce papers. I met Uriel when she was not even looking for a mate and I genuinely took a liking to her but over the years, I got tired and fed up. Even my wolf could testify to that, ten years and she couldn’t give me an heir to the pack. What would I say to everyone? That I had no f*****g successor? I couldn’t keep her, not when I had Louisa to give me everything and anything I want from her, even if it was a child. “Are you thinking about her again?” Her voice jolted me out of my train of thoughts and I raised my head to meet her gaze, she had that look I liked. This woman was clearly older than me but she didn’t look it, she looked so young. “Of course not, baby” I told her, “I was only thinking about work” She smiled at me and cupped her belly, “we have a child on the way now, Felix” Louisa said, “don’t think about anyone or anything else okay?” “Of course my love” I pulled her closer and pressed a kiss on her forehead. That was when my phone rang out and Damon’s name popped up. That mad man, I called him for a drink earlier and he declined. It was the first time he did something like that and I couldn’t help but wonder. “I should answer this” I told Louisa before picking up the phone and pressing it against my ear. “Calling me after you refused to have a drink with me is something else, Damon” I said into the phone and he chuckled. “I am up for that drink, man” he responded, “send me an address” “Why?” I leaned forward against my table, “did your woman finally leave?” “Are you coming for a drink or not?” He asked from the other end of the line, “I am on my way out already” “I will meet you at the usual place” “Sure” I answered before ending the call. “Are you going out?” Louisa asked from where she was seated and I nodded. “Hmm, wanna come along?” “Not at all. I still have a few things to take care of. You should carry on, don’t let me stop you” “Okay baby” Without further ado, I pulled my body off the reclining chair, picked up my jacket before pressing a kiss on her forehead. “I will see you when I get back okay? “Sure” With another kiss, I finally made my way out of the office and in no time, my maybach zoomed out of the premises towards the serendipity club where Damon and I usually met. I didn’t allow my thoughts to linger on Uriel, I lost feelings for her a long time ago and now it only felt like I got rid of a bad tooth. I was looking forward to the day we would separate and it came faster than I could imagine. I felt suffocated in her presence but luckily we are over and done now. As if on cue, my phone rang and my lawyer’s name popped up. I clicked on the receive button before pressing the phone against my ear. “Yes, tell me” “I got in contact with Miss Uriel and she told me she was not interested in the alimony” “Send it to her anyways” I ordered, “don’t contact her about it” “Okay sir” She was only acting out of anger, I knew she would need it. It’s not like she had anything to fall back on, even her modeling career has gone down the drain. I pushed the thought of her to the back of my head and focused on the things ahead. The chapter of I and Uriel was over and nothing would ever bring us together again, ever again. A few minutes later, my car pulled up in front of the club and I made my way towards the entrance. Damon and I owned the biggest shares of the club alongside other rich men of New York and it is where connections took place, where most of the deals also took place. “Good evening, Mr Devanpool” I acknowledged the man before making my way inside to our usual table, Damon was already seated with a glass of scotch in front of him. His face broke into a smile the moment he saw me. “I thought you wouldn’t come,” he said as I pulled out a chair and lowered myself on it. “A glass of whisky” I told the bartender and he immediately set to work while I returned my attention back to the man who was seated beside me. “So tell me, why did you suddenly change your mind about having drinks with me? I thought you didn’t want that?” “Well, I suddenly do” he responded, gulping down his entire glass of scotch, “there was suddenly a celebration” “What is it?” The bartender handed me my whisky and I took a sip, I loved how it burned down my throat. “It’s a surprise” Damon answered, “so you wait for the good news” “So we are hiding things now?” “You know I would never hide anything from you man” “So tell me, what’s the occasion?” Damon looked at me and I could see a mischievous glint in his eyes. He was hiding something, I could sniff it out like a blood hound. Something was going out and the fact that he didn’t want to tell me could only mean one thing…it was serious. We sat in silence for a while, enjoying our drink and watching the men of the club come in and go out. I have brought Uriel here once and she didn’t like it.. in her words, it was all vague and she preferred to stay at home and read a book. “I am getting married!” Damon finally dropped the bombshell and my head swerved to his side. What the hell did this rouge alpha just say? Getting married? Damon? We all know the moon goddess never blessed him with a mate so how the heck was he getting married? Did he kidnap someone’s bride and forced her? The more I thought about it, the more I got confused. Damon never told me he was seeing any woman so what’s with the marriage talk? “When did you have a mate, Damon?” “She is not my mate” “So why the heck did you say you were getting married?” He scoffed, picking up his wine glass again, I watched him gulp a mouthful with a smirk lingering on his face. “Talk to me man” “You will get to meet her soon, Felix” he told me, “do not worry about that” “When?” “Very soon” Damon continued sipping his wine while I kept looking at him. He was up to no good and I knew him. For someone who killed his own parents with his own hands, he was the devil himself. People always said I was ruthless but they clearly had not met Damon yet. He was ruthless in human form and I could swear on my life. He was more wicked and cruel than ten of me combined and he was a conniving person. Damon could stab anyone in the back, he didn’t care but we both had one thing in common, we would both do anything and everything for each other and I loved him like a f*****g brother. “Now you have made me curious, Damon” I couldn’t help but tell him and he chuckled again, this time in a more amused manner. “You will be surprised, Felix” he announced, “your drink is on me” For the rest of the night I was hoping he would say something regarding his marriage but Damon never said anything and I swear that I had never been so frustrated before. He was up to no good and I could feel it in my bones. “I will kill you if you do anything behind my back” I warned him before I could board my car, two hours after sitting in silence. “Then prepare your weapons, alpha” he teased, “because it will be a blast” With a wink, Damon turned around and walked away, his steps screaming of mischief and trouble. He was up to no good and I could bet my balls on that. “Watch your back, man” I called after him but instead he chuckled and continued on his way without turning back. Now I was going to find out what was going on with that dickhead. Wife? Damon didn’t even have a mate to f*****g begin with!!!!
