URIEL’s POV.
With one last look at myself in the mirror, I picked up my phone but at that moment, the door pushed open and Damon walked into the room, his face expressionless and his eyes traveling over me.
I didn’t say anything to him because we had nothing to talk about anymore. I cried in his arms, it was already enough embarrassment for me and I didn’t want to do anything else.
“Set?” He asked me and I nodded.
“Must you actually leave? You can stay here, Uriel!”
“Well, I am not ready to have that conversation with you again, Damon” I told him, “I can’t stay here, no matter what”
He heaved a sigh before stretching out his hand towards me and I collected the paper from him.
“That is the contract I wanted you to read, if you still change your mind after that, then you can leave. I won’t stop you”
Before I could respond, Damon turned and made his way out of the room leaving me with the contract. I looked at it and my eyes teared up again. I hated to feel weak, I hated not being in complete control of everything happening around me.
My phone rang out and a family's make popped up. I remembered when she gave me the news and I badly wanted to share it with Felix, who would have thought that we would be divorced even before I would get on the big stage.
Sniffing back my tears, I clicked on the receive button before pressing the phone against my ear.
“Hello”
“Mrs Uriel” her voice filtered through, “I heard about your father’s passing and we are really sorry for your loss”
“Thank you, Eugene,” I said.
“Take all the time you need okay? You are not expected in London until two weeks, I am sure that’s enough time for you to tidy things up”
An idea popped in my head, what was the need of staying here when I could just leave for London? At least it would help me deal with the pain inside of me.
“Two weeks is too much, Eugene” I finally told her, “I will be in London next week and I will be available for everything”
“That will be splendid then, I will send all the details to your email. Make sure you read them and let me know if you need anything okay?”
“Sure, thank you”
“I am glad to have you on the team, Uriel” she continued, “I have seen your talent and I am sure you are going to make it big on the international stage”
I cupped my belly, part of me wanted to tell her I was pregnant but the most logical part of me refused. I didn’t plan on continuing after this London fashion week so there was no need to do it. I only smiled and nodded.
“Thank you, Eugene. I will keep in touch”
“Of course”
After ending the call, I closed my eyes and allowed my mind to wander, not wanting to think about Felix or how much I missed him. I know he hurt me but I miss him so much. The way we laughed and chatted. I wouldn’t have believed it if someone told me we would be separated. I have a lot on my mind but Damon seemed to be more interested in what benefited him.
I opened my eyes and began to skim through the document he gave me. It was the contract for the marriage. We would be married for three months and in these three months, I would pose as his wife for events and public gatherings but we wouldn’t have a relationship outside that. I will be paid five hundred million dollars after our deal is done. It was a mouth watering deal that anyone would gladly jump at but the fact that he was Felix's best friend and I knew him personally put me off. Not like I was interested but someone else could.
I dumped the document on the bed and pulled my body off, I was not interested.
“Are you sure you are making the right decision?” My wolf asked me, “Felix betrayed us, this could be a good opportunity for us”
“No, it’s not” I snapped, “birds of a feather flock together, they can’t be any different from each other”
“But…
“Not now” I interrupted her, “let me do what best for us” I made up my mind, I would be leaving for London in a week and I want to leave everything behind. I can’t stay here, not for anything.
Damon was in his study when I pushed the door open and I entered, he was on a call but his gaze rested on me, his eyes saying a whole lot of things to me.
“My wife?” He asked, “not yet…sure, I will get back to you on that. Let me call you back…of course”
He ended the call and placed the phone on the table before raising his head to meet my gaze.
“I am guessing you are here to tell me you are not interested right?”
“I am glad you know”
“I see…. Well, at least I tried”
“You…
My eyes caught the document on his table and I saw Louisa’s name on it. My anger skyrocketed and I immediately picked it up, my eyes skimming through it. It was a contract deal with my father’s company and Damon. My eyes darkened..how could Damon do this? Did he accept the deal? Did he…
“What is this doing here?”
“What do you mean?” He snatched it from me, “it’s a contract, I am sure you can see that”
“Are you planning on going into business with her?” I felt a pang of betrayal inside of me, I thought he was on my side yet he..
“What do you mean? I am a businessman, Uriel”
“That old hag stole my husband, she killed my father and stole everything he had. You want to do business with someone like that?”
“Listen sweetheart” I placed both hands inside my pocket and leaned closer to her, “this is business and I can’t let it go because of a sentimental situation from you. If you want to make her pay for what she did, then be my wife and I will let you do as you please”
“And you think I will believe you?”
“Yer you don’t want me to work with her. Take the deal and sabotage whatever I have with her, rest assured”
“And Felix?”
“Do you still care about him?” He added the question with a raised brow and I tightened my jaw together.
“I am carrying his child, I haven't…
“You do not need to tell him” Damon cut me off, “your child will have more than enough to even last his entire life. The only thing you need to do is…” he turned to the table and picked up a pen, “sign the contract, my darling”
I bit down on my lips lightly and I watched him swallow hard. This was stupid but then again, how could I let Louisa go? She did a lot to me, I couldn’t possibly let her go Scot free after everything she did.
“How sure am I that this is not another prank with Felix?”
He leaned forward again, this time I could feel his hot breath on my face, this man was so fine…I couldn’t even pretend about that.
“Try me, Uriel” he nudged, “you know I am not lying”
For a few minutes, we remained silent … looking and staring at each other. Will it hurt? We both hated each other and this would give me an opportunity to take back everything that belonged to my father and maybe Felix, I am sure he was working under the influence of her spell, I couldn’t trust that witch.
“So what would it be, Uriel?”
“Fine, just three months”
With a tiny smirk, he picked up his phone from the table and dialed a certain number before pressing the phone against his ear.
“Yes” his deep baritone reached my ear, “you can begin preparations for the wedding” he announced, “in three days”
My eyes bulged, three days? Who does a wedding in three days?
As soon as he ended the call, I opened my mouth to speak but he first me to it.
“Felix would be announcing his relationship with Louisa in a week. How about we give them a shocker?” He sounded so manipulative that I hated him the more.
