Get out!

1127 Words
Christine's POV “Can we please not call my father. He is not well lately, and this may upset him. I do not want them to know who my father is. I do not want Mike and his family to go to my father’s house and upset him. Please, can we keep it a secret for now?” I ask. “Sure. Do not worry, I will handle all of this,” Professor Stevens says. I smile at him, thankfully. My hands and knees are hurting from the fall on the veranda. The door is not locked, and Professor Stevens and I walk in without even knocking. Why should I knock on my door? It is my house after all! My in-laws, Mike and Emma, are celebrating. My in-laws and Mike are drinking champagne while Emma has a glass of juice in her hand. They all look up as Professor Steven and I walk in. “Christine! Don’t you have any shame! Why are you here? We threw you out!” Maureen shouts. “You are the ones who should leave. You have five minutes to leave Doctor Waltz’s house. If not, I will call security and even the police to throw you out. Also, you'd better get the hell out of the house next door as well. It all belongs to Doctor Waltz. As for you, Emma, you are going home with me! We need to talk! Your new boyfriend and his family are not welcome in my house,” Professor Steven says. “How dare you tell Professor Stevens lies! This is our property!” Maureen says. “Can you prove it? Where is your deed? Who paid for these houses?” Professor Stevens asks. I can only look at him in admiration. He is such a strong man. He will not take their s**t. “The divorce is not finalised, and we are planning on fighting her in court for these houses. It is the least she can do after Mike put up with her for years! She could not even give him a child! She is useless and works for much less money than Mike! Besides, what does she want to do with a house? Professor Stevens, Mike and Emma are in love they are expecting a baby. Our grandchild deserves to grow up in a house like this. She is your niece. Surely you will not throw her and Mike out of this house because of a scumbag like Christine. She is not worthy of Emma’s old shoes,” John says. “What makes you think that? Do you even know anything about Dr Christine?” Jonathan asks. I cannot think about him as Professor Stevens anymore. He is my friend now, and he is standing up for me against these bullies. These people treated me very badly over the years. I never wanted to tell my father. He is getting older, and I do not want to upset him. “She is a leech! She has been leeching off our name! She is working at that backyard hospital because she cannot get a job at a prestigious hospital like Emma, Mike and us. She only got a job because of us! Her family is nothing! Emma is pregnant with Mike’s child. Please, do not upset her,” Maureen says. “Being pregnant is no excuse for taking someone else’s husband and property. The time is ticking. You'd better get moving and take your clothes. You cannot take anything else from the houses. I am sure Doctor Christine paid for everything,” Jonathan says. “You lying b***h! Everything belongs to us! You won’t even be a doctor if it were not for us. You would have stayed on the streets. She is using our name! We are well-known surgeons in this town, and we rub elbows with everyone! I will not allow her to destroy our reputation,” John shouts. “You pathetic excuse of a human being! I do not love you anymore! Why can't you accept it and leave Emma and me alone! Professor Stevens, please, do not let her tell you lies. I have contributed to this house as much as she did, and it is our house, not just hers! I am willing to give her an apartment in town in exchange for her share of these properties,” Mike says. “And you think an apartment is worth the price of both houses? Mike, I do not care if you have a hundred other women. I only want what is rightfully mine. I will not give you and your parents my property. Please, leave. You can all move into the apartment. I am sure it is big enough for all of you,” I say. “How dare you? We have been good to you for years! You are the one who could not conceive. You can’t blame Mike for wanting Emma back. He and Emma were always in love. They broke up after school because Emma moved away, but their hearts always belonged to each other,” Maureen says. “I do not care! Get out of my house!” I shout. “You do not know anything about Christine. It is a shame you never got to know your wife, Doctor Mike. Now, Emma, go get in my car or I will through you out with the rest of them,” Jonathan says. Emma pretends to stumble and grabs Mike’s hand. “Mike, baby, I am so sorry. It is all my fault. You will be kicked out of this house, and your parents will not have a place to stay. I am feeling so bad. My head is spinning,” Emma says dramatically. “Christine! See what you have done! Emma is upset. Professor Steven, your poor niece is not feeling well, and that's all because of that b***h!” Mike shouts as he holds Christine in his arms. “Emma, stop your acting. We are all doctors here, and I can see you are not feeling sick or guilty. Go get in my car right now! The rest of you, pack your bags and leave!” Jonathan says. “We will not! It is our houses!” Maureen shouts. “Why are you taking this bumpkin’s side, Professor. Don’t you want the best for your niece?” John asks. “Not at the expense of the rightful owner. Your time is up,” Jonathan says as he picks up his phone and calls someone. Mike, Emma, John and Maureen look at us. “You are kidding. The authorities will not throw us out of our own houses,” Maureen says. Jonathan smiles. “Who said I called the authorities?” He asks.
