Jonathan’s POV
“What do you mean by that? Uncle Jonathan, did you call your guards?” Emma asks. She knows I own a lot of guards. I am wealthy, and most of the people in town who are as wealthy as I have guards and people to protect them, their family and their property.
“I told you to get in my car!” I say.
“But Uncle Jonathan, I love Mike. I want to be with him for the rest of my life. He is the father of my baby. Please, do not kick us out of the house because of her. Mike and I could not help falling in love,” Emma says.
“Ugh!” Christine makes a sound as if she knows something I do not know.
“What do you know that I do not know?” I ask Christine.
“Nothing. It is not my place to talk,” Christine says.
“Yes! You are just jealous of the relationship Mike and I have. You are jealous because he picked me over you!” Emma says, but she sounds panicked as if she does not want Christine to talk. What is going on? I do not understand. Does Christine think Emma is lying about the father of her child? I know my niece is not the best human on earth, but I do not believe she will lie about who the father of her baby is. She has been spending a lot of time with Mike lately, or at least I suspected it.
“Enough! I do not want to know about your love lives. I do not care! Emma, get into my car now! I do not want you to get hurt when they get removed from the houses. I told you to get your clothes, but since you did not want to listen, you will be removed without anything. Also, do not think you can come back to the houses. Christine, I think you should call your guards to come over and protect these properties. We will see after the divorce what the court decides,” Jonathan says.
“Bahahaha, Christine and her family cannot afford guards,” John laughs.
“Yes, no one will kick us out! This is our son’s home, and the house next door is ours,” Maureen says.
“Yes, I am not going to leave. I am staying with Mike. You cannot tell me what to do, Uncle. I am over twenty-one, and you have no say over me anymore,” Emma says.
“Well, then, you will end up on the streets with these people. Who does the apartment belong to?” I ask Christine.
“To Mike’s parents. It is the only thing they bought for themselves. You can all laugh now, but I promise you, you will not be laughing for long,” Christine says. She takes out her phone and walks away. I know she is calling her father’s security. They will arrive after my men get here. They will protect her against these people once my men and I go home.
“Bahahaha, she is calling her guards! Christine must think we will fall for her tricks,” John laughs again.
“You are so clueless. Didn’t all of you go to school together? How can you not know who the woman you are married to is, Mike? You are her in-laws, and you know nothing about her? Am I the only one who knows anything about Christine?” I ask.
“What do you know what we don’t know? She is a nobody and a mediocre doctor. She cannot even land a job in a prestigious hospital. Her parents must be from a small town because we never met them. I am not interested in mingling with people below our status! You should not mingle with her, Professor Stevens. You are why above her,” Maureen says. I know these people. I have worked with them for a long time. All of them are mediocre doctors. Christine is the only talented one in the Waltz family. She has magical hands when it comes to surgery.
“You may all laugh now, but later you will regret your words. Besides, I have worked with Christine. She is the only one worthy of being called a doctor in this family. She may work for less money than you, but she knows how to work with her money, unlike you. You are so stupid! Have you ever wondered how a doctor who works for less than you can afford to buy two properties?” I laugh. I am not going to tell them who Christine is.
“Maybe she has wealthy lovers? You are not one of her lovers, are you, Professor Stevens?” Maureen asks. I am furious. How dare they! Christine is well respected in town, and many doctors who are passionate about their jobs know who she is and want to work with her. I hope she considers taking her place at the hospital where these people are working. She will have to do it someday. She is the only heir to her father’s fortune, and she will inherit all that is his. She will have to get used to working in our hospital. My men arrive.
“Throw these people out! Make sure they do not come back. There will be other guards arriving soon. Also, don’t let them enter the property next door,” I say.
“Don’t you dare touch us! I will call the police. This is our property!” Maureen shouts. My men do not care about Maureen. They only obey me. They grab everyone, Emma included, and start taking them outside.
“Uncle, wait! I will go with you for now. I will wait until everything is sorted out in court,” Emma says. I hope Emma did not get into a relationship with Mike because she thinks he has money. Mike and his family do not stand a chance in court against Christine Braxton. She is one of the wealthiest heirs in this city. I hope she takes her maiden name back after the divorce.
“Professor Stevens, you are going to regret taking her side,” Mike screams as my men lead him out of the house. I only smile.
“Mike Waltz, you made the biggest mistake of your life when you decided to cheat on your wife with my niece. You are the one going to regret all you did to Christine,” I say.
