(Julia’s POV)
The first thing that registered in my mind was the pain. My head hurt worse than it ever had before, but I couldn’t bring myself to open my eyes. What happened? I don’t remember hitting my head.
Finally, I pushed myself up to a seated position and opened my eyes. What the — ? From what I could tell, I was in the woods, surrounded on all sides by tall trees. Another shock of pain went through my head, and I put my hand to my forehead.
When I brought it back, I was shocked to see it was covered in blood. Blood? What could have done this? Did I fall? I tried to go back over the last few things I remembered. I had been at the office, working late, as always.
