Her Second Chance.

Chapter 11/ Say this is a nightmare...

    When I wake up again, I am in my bed. I wake up and scream. “I can't be here Lola.” I cry to her. “We were here every night together.” I hear her whimper. My bag from the camping ground is here and I can see my phone. I grab my phone and call the alpha.

    “Alpha I’m ready to move onto your floor. I can’t stay at my house. Kieran stayed here with me every night. I can’t stay here.” I say as I start to cry.

    “I’ll have Bethany get moved to another room and have her come and get you and your things.” He says to me in an understanding tone.

    I start to pack my clothes and pictures. I take the picture of the group and pack it up. I’m all packed and ready to go.

    I walk into the living room and I tell my parents that I have to leave. I explain why and they are totally understanding. The doorbell rings and they hug me and tell me they love me, and I leave out the door with Bethany.

    Walking over to the pack house I try hard not to cry. We go up to the alpha’s floor. Bethany leads me to her old room.

    “I’m sorry this happened, and I’ve basically had you kicked out of this room.”

    “Girl don’t worry about me. Ronan decided to give me a house. So now I have a place to live away from all the business of the pack house. Something to call my own, until Ronan joins. You did me a favor.” She smiles at me with teary eyes.

    “Please don’t” I say holding back the tears. “Don’t cry for me. I will be ok.”

    She nods her head and walks away toward the alpha’s office. I walk into the room and look around. This room is a little bigger than my old room. Bethany took her chair. I have to buy a new one. There is a nice bookshelf. I wonder if Alpha with give me the encyclopedias that I cleared out for him. The day I showed him my ass.

    I think about it and throw my palm over my face. Then I think back at how that day had played out. It makes me think of Kieran. I have to divert my attention. I start to make my bed with the new comforter set Bethany had left on the bed. It was very me. Alpha must have picked it off of what I told him the day he gave me my job.

    It was all Paris themed. I put away all my clothes. I walk into my bathroom same as the bed set all Paris themed. I love it. I hope I get to go there one day. I put away my toiletries and walk back into my new room. The alpha was standing at the door.

    “Hope you like the set up and bed set. I started buying the stuff to do your room when you agreed to be this floors omega. I have chair from France being delivered in two days. I hope that’s ok.” He tells me.

    “It’s great. Thank you.” I say as I hug him.

    I pull away and see the sadness in his eyes. I walk into the kitchen and ask him if he or Bethany would like dessert. I bake desserts when I’m emotionally hurting. They both say no.

    I decide on Strawberry cheesecake cookies. Those are Jaspers favorite, and he could probably use some right about now. I mix up the batter and shape the cookies on the sheet and pop them in the oven. I set a timer on my phone and walk to Jaspers room. Jasper sits on the edge of the bed waiting. Waiting for Livi to wake up.

    “Hey Jas, wanna talk?”

    “Not really. But you can hang out if you want. Maybe you being here to will help her know we care.” He says in a defeated tone.

    I walk over and sit on the other side of his bed. He had Livi moved to his room from the hospital for her comfort. The machines beep and boop. I pick up Livi’s hand and rub circle on it and say a silent pray for her. The doctors come and check on her every day.

    They say she is slowly healing and but with this pace they aren’t sure if she will ever wake up. I want my friends to be ok. The funerals for the pack members we lost are tomorrow. I don’t know if I will be able to make it through this.      

    “Don’t worry Graci we will all be there for you tomorrow.” Jasper says as he reaches over and grabs my hand reassuringly.

    “How did you know that’s what I was thinking about?”

    “Your my best friend, I can see it in your eyes.” He says lovingly.

    He's right he is my best friend. Jasper, Kevin, and I had always been close, but Jasper and I were a little more than close. There was a time when everyone thought we’d be mates. We even shared our first kiss.

    After that we knew we weren’t for each other in that way. We sat there for a little longer and then my timer went off. Just as it beeped the smell of the cookies wafted into the room.

    “Is that what I think it is?” Jasper asks with a smile.

    “It is. I can bring you some.”

    “It’s ok I’ll come in there. Be there in a few.” He says kissing Livi’s hand.

    I walk out and head the kitchen. The cookies are perfect. I put them on the cooling rack. Alpha mind links me to bring him some cookies when they are cooled. I smile to myself and think to myself about how he said he didn’t want any.

    Men always think with one of two things their stomach or their d**k. A few minutes later Jasper floats in following the smell. He sits at the kitchen island. I put a few cookies on the plate for him and slide them over.

    He digs in and melts. He looks so happy. Happiness I haven’t seen from him since I woke up. He’s usually always the cheerful one. I put some cookies on another plate and make my way down the hall. Telling Jasper, I’ll be right back.

    I walk to alpha’s office. Knocking on the open door drawing his attention.

    “Come in Graci. Those smell delicious. Those are my favorite cookies. How did you know?” Alpha asks with a bright smile.

    “I didn’t know they were your favorite too. I know they are Jasper’s and I wanted to make something to bring up his spirits about Livi.”  I tell him setting down the plate of cookies on his desk.

    “She did save me after all.” I say holding back the tears.

    “Don’t cry pretty girl. You are special to all your friends, anyone of them would have done the same. They love you. As does our pack.” He says lovingly standing up and reaching for me.

    “I know it just hurts.” I say walking into his hug.

    We hug for a while and then he kisses the top of my head and tells me that he needs to do some work and he will see me at dinner. I walk out of the office feeling a little better. Back to the kitchen were Jasper has eaten all of the cookies. That boy is something else. I tell him I’ll make more. He smiles.

    “We should watch a movie tonight. I sleep in the living room anyway and I can’t stand seeing Livi like that all the time. Plus, it’d be nice to have someone that I can trust to talk to.” He says elbowing my elbow in a goofy way.

    “Sure, I guess. What do you wanna watch?”

    “How about Drop Dead Fred?” Jasper says with a laugh.

    “Oh man, I miss watching that movie. I’m so down.”

    “Yeah, remember when me, you, and Kevin used to watch it like every night laid out on the main living room floor?” he asks laughing again.

    “The times we had.” I say laughing thinking about how goofy we all were.

    We used to go get in our pj’s and eat dinner together and watch that movie on the living room floor. We’d fall asleep and end up in our beds by the end of the night. We never figured out how until we were older realized that our parents were taking us to bed. We thought it was magic.

    Jasper goes back to his room and I go do some laundry and start another batch of cookies. Alpha mind links me and says he needs me in an hour and tells me what he would like brought up for dinner. I tell him that after tonight I would like to start making breakfast, lunch, and dinner myself.

    He agrees but says it will be just Jasper and I because he needs to eat with the rest of the pack house downstairs. I call down for dinner. Then I finish the cookies and clean up the kitchen and walk down to his office. I knock on the door.

    “You asked to see me sir.”

    “Yes, Graci I did. It’s about procedure. Now that you are here and will be taking Bethany’s duties, we will be changing the keypad code and getting new keycards.” He says very businesslike.

    “Why? If I may ask sir?” I ask shyly.

    “Well, it’s just what we do when we change omegas. Not that I think Bethany will do anything bad with the info she has, but it’s procedure.” Ronan says matter of factly.

    He then hands me my new key card and tells me the new code. He also informs me that on Wednesdays someone named Sam will be coming by. He informs me that Bethany has to go through me to come in, but that most of the time he will inform me before hand when she is coming. Alpha dismisses me and goes back to his paperwork. When I’m at the door he stops me.

    “Graci.” He says still looking at the paperwork on his desk.

    “Yes, sir?”

    “Thank you for being here. I know it’s hard, but you find a way to keep going.” He says looking up with sadness in his eyes.

    “No thank you sir. For allowing me to have this opportunity and to jump right in.” I say as I nod and walk out of the office.
