Chapter 13/ Funeral rites...

1242 Words
Graci POV     I woke up Alpha for training. Made his bed and took his laundry and started it. I took a shower and got dressed the day. Today is going to be hard.     I push on and I’m getting ready to start making pancakes when I hear someone buzzing the door like a mad man. I’m not used to someone being so aggressive with the door buzzer. I’m not sure what to do. I start to walk to the door and I’m about to look at the camera on the desk when the door opens and in walk Alpha Ronan and a very upset Bethany.     “Why did you have to change it all Ronan?” she asks clearly on the verge of tears.     “That’s protocol. You know when you switched with the old Omega that the codes and were changed. You didn’t seem to care then.” He coldly said and walked toward his room.     “Please don’t walk away from me, I’m trying to talk to you.” Bethany said starting to cry.     “Then follow me to my room I have to shower. You can continue talking on your knees.” He said in a harsh voice.     He turned to see if she was coming and his eyes landed on me. He looked me up and down. He turned and walked to his room, Bethany hot on his heels.     Doesn’t seem like Alpha is in a very good mood. But all things considered I don’t think anyone really is. I go back to making pancakes. I put orange juice on the dining room table. I put out four place setting. I make some bacon and some eggs.     I put all the food on the table. I got tell Jasper breakfast is done. He thanked me and I went to inform Bethany and Alpha. I walked to the door of his room. Bethany was sitting on the bed with her head in her hands. I knocked on the open door. Bethany looked up at me with tears in her eyes.     “I just came to let you guys know that breakfast is ready. Unless Alpha plans on eating with the pack today.”     “I will eat with the pack today. Thank you Graci.” He says as he walks out of the bathroom to his closet in a towel.     “Yes sir.” I say as I walk back to the dining room.     From behind me I hear Alpha tell Bethany he needs her assistance in the closet. I roll my eyes I’m pretty sure I know what he means by assistance. I’m also sure that she jumped up and practically ran to him.     I’m not sure if she means as much to him as he does to her. Then I think to myself it’s none of my business. I walk into the dining room to find Jasper filling his plate. I sit and do the same.     "Graci are you going to be ok today?" Jasper asks my with a pained face.     "I think I will. I know he loved me as much as I loved him and I want him to be happy in the afterlife." I say with a small smile and tear slips out.     "Oh Graci please don't cry." Jasper say leaning up and wiping my tear.     "Sorry Jasper it's just a little tough today, but I will be ok, eventually." I say shrugging my shoulders.      A few mins late Bethany walks in and sits. We carry on idle chit chat. They go back to doing their own thing. Bethany goes downstairs and I don’t know where she ended up.     After I have cleared the table and washed the dished. I got my dress wet, so I took it off and threw on my oversized sweater and skirt while I go to put away Alpha’s clothes. I walk into his closet and start putting away his things. I notice his cufflinks for today are out.      I pick one up and spin it in my figures admiring the beautiful emerald green gem in them when it falls out of my hand.  I bend down to get it and realize it has fallen behind to the dresser.     I get down on the floor and reach and I hear a loud rip. The whole back of my skirt busts open. Dear goddess that’s embarrassing Thank goddess no one saw it. Wrong.     “Um Graci what are you doing?” Jaspers voice startles me.     “I dropped a cufflink and just ripped my skirt.”     “What a sight.” He says with a laugh.     “Please stop looking asshole.”     I grab the cufflink and get up and put it back and stomp past him. He is falling over laughing. I loudly cuss him all the way down the hall. I sit in my room waiting for my dress to be done. The dryer finally buzzes.      I go get my dress and put it back on and touch up my curls. I look at myself in the mirror and another tear escapes me. Walking out of the bathroom I think to myself, I wish Lola would talk to me. Is she going to be gone forever now that her mate is dead. That hurts to think those words. Kieran is dead. I start to cry.     After a few minutes of crying i hear a small knock on my door. I go to my mirror and wipe my face and check my dress. I open my door and walk out of my room to find Jasper and Alpha waiting.     “Are you ready to go down?” Alpha asks me.     “Yes.”     “This is going to be ok.” Jasper says and I nod holding back the tears.     We walk to the door and walk down to the back yard. All the people are sitting in chairs and waiting. I go and sit by my parents. Late after all the rights are read by the elders. We all walk the where the pyres are built.     Everyone has their chances to say goodbye to their loved ones. I slowly walk to Kieran’s pyre and seeing his body wrapped in a baby blue sheet and I couldn’t hold back the tears any longer. The tears flowed until they couldn’t anymore.     Kevin found out from Jasper that Kieran was my mate and he had told his parents. Their sympathy for me made me cry more. The sobs became silent as they had given all the sounds they could. When the time had come to lite the pyre’s Kieran’s parents had Kevin do it. As the pyre’s burned and smoke billowed to the sky.     “From the Moon Goddess we came in the form of wolf folk, we return you now to her in the form of ash and smoke.” The pack says in unison.     I walk back to the pack house unaware of my surroundings. I stumble up the stairs. I make it to my room and fall on my bed and curl up like a baby and cry until I’m swallowed by darkness. The next few days are a blur.
