“What kind of trick is this?” Birk’s voice was hostile and suspicious when he called back ten minutes later.
Michi was right in the middle of her breakfast. She put down her fork and quickly finished the bite of food in her mouth as she turned to face Kagami’s radio speaker. “No trick, Birk. I mean it.”
“But what do you mean?”
“Please, let’s stop these word games. You know what I mean, or you wouldn’t have called back.”
