“Eden” Esme whispered after some time.
“We really need to let him go. This is too much. He is dead for hours”
“Just one more minute,” Eden said with a broken voice. “This is my last chance to hold him. I had him for such a short time that I couldn’t even realize what we had. And now he is gone. It is my fault. It’s my fault for losing him” she tells Esme and bursted in tears.
“Look at me Eden!” Esme commanded her , kneeling close to Eden and making her look at her.
“This is not your fault. DO you hear me?”
BUt Eden continues to cry because all the time she held Ryder’s body she was judging herself for reaching this point where she would lose someone else again.
“You don’t understand, mom,” she told Esme. “I am cursed. Every time I think I am happy, someone dies. Someone betrays me.”
