KATRINA'S POV
I woke up around 8 a.m., the house still quiet, so I assumed Xander was still asleep. I threw on yesterday's clothes and went downstairs to make some eggs. Once they were ready, I decided to bring them up to him.
When I entered his room, Xander was still sound asleep. He looked pale, almost sickly. I knew that look all too well. It was one of the many side effects of an unfaithful mate.
I placed the plate of eggs on his bedside table and gently shook him awake. His eyes fluttered open slowly, squinting as they adjusted to the light. When he finally focused, our gazes met, but he seemed too tired to sit up. The pain was too much for him, and he groaned softly, a whimper escaping his lips. It hurt my heart to see him like this.
