Finding Each Other

1003 Words
Analeigh POV    As I made my way to the parking lot, my mind was on the conversation I had just had with the Alpha and Beta when I felt Crystal stirring restlessly in my head.    'What is it?' I asked her.    'Mate has been here,' she said.    'What do you mean, mate has b-,' I stopped short as a faith scent finally began to register. It smelled like a mixture of cinnamon and apples. But it was faint enough to tell me that whoever the scent belonged to was no longer actually at the packhouse.    'Whoever it is, he's not here anymore,' I told her.   'Want mate,' she whimpered.    'I know you do. So do I,' I replied. 'Since he was here earlier and isn't now, he's most likely at the school.' I knew there was a small chance my mate was older and no longer in school, but I had a gut feeling that that was not the case.   'Go to school. Find mate,' Crystal whined.   I rolled my eyes as I picked my helmet up off the seat of my scooter and strapped it on. Usually she was my best friend and confidante, but other times it was like I had a temperamental toddler in my head.   When I got to school, I was irritated to find that someone had taken my assigned parking space. They were supposed to get in trouble for parking in someone else's assigned space, but since I was just an omega nobody seemed to really care.    As I approached the building, I noticed two of the pack warriors, Damien and Daniel near the school entrance. I groaned. Even though they weren't related, I called these two the Dumb and Dumber twins, and there was a reason for that. They bullied me every chance they got, and now I would have to pass them to get into the school. I tried to ignore them as I walked by, but Damon reached out and knocked my books out of my hands as I passed by.    "Oh no!" Daniel said with fake horror in his voice. "Did that big mean bully make you drop those? Here, let me help." With that, he leaned down and smacked one of my notebooks almost back out into the parking lot.   Knowing that saying anything would just make things worse, I picked my books up off the ground and attempted again to pass Dumb and Dumber to enter the building. As I passed by, Daniel grabbed my ponytail and yanked my head back.    "Now you acting all high and mighty, huh? Filthy omega. Can't even say thank you?"   I bit back the words that wanted to come out. "Thank you, Daniel. May I please go now?   Daniel shoved me forward so hard I stumbled and almost fell. "Yeah sure. I need go wash the omega germs off my hands anyway."   As I entered the building, I heard Damon laugh like that was the greatest joke he'd ever heard. But once I entered the building, I forgot about the Dumb and Dumber twins. Once again, I smelled that amazing scent. Apples and cinnamon. It was much stronger this time. Crystal started going nuts in my head.    "Mate! Mate is here! Mate is coming this way!"   I froze. He was here. My mate. And he was coming my way.      Terrance POV   We were over an hour into the school day and still no unusual scents had reached my nose. Not only was I beginning to get a little frustrated, Diesel was throwing a temper tantrum in my head. After the bell rang to signal the end of first period, I sniffed the air for probably the hundredth time that morning as I stepped out into the hallway. Nothing.    'Want mate,' Diesel grumbled.    'I know, you big oaf. You think I don't?' All he had done all morning was grumble that we hadn't found our mate yet. Like I could do anything about it. I had gotten a text from Aliana saying that she was getting her hair done but would probably be there before or right after the beginning of second period.    As I started down the hallway, headed to my second period class - English literature - my future beta, Jaydon came over and clapped me on the shoulder. "Happy birthday, man! Sorry I missed you before class this morning. Lana and I, uh, well...."   I raised my hand and shook my head. "It's cool, man. Thanks. I do NOT need to know what you were doing with your m - I mean, girlfriend." We tried never to mention the word "mate" at school so no humans would overhear us and wonder.   He laughed. "So, your parents still having the big party tonight?"   "But of course. You know my family has always made a big deal about birthdays so why should this one be any diff-" I stopped mid sentence as it suddenly it hit me. That scent. That beautiful, intoxicating scent. It smelled like peaches and cream. I caught Jaydon's knowing smirk before I turned and walked in the direction that wonderful smell was coming from.    Diesel was going nuts in my head. "Mate! Mate is here! Mate!"   I walked the short distance to the lobby, the scent growing stronger with each step.    As I walked toward the lobby, the scent grew stronger and stronger. When I reached the lobby, there were several students milling around, but I only had eyes for one of them. Only one of them was staring at me with eyes as big as I'm sure mine were at that moment. Analeigh stood in the center of the lobby, staring at me as I walked in.    I walked directly to her and gently laid my hand on her cheek. I felt electrical tingles all throughout my body at just the simple touch. "Mate," I whispered.    She reached out to touch my face too, intensifying the electric feeling. "Mate," she whispered back, just before I crushed my lips on hers.
