Analeigh POV   When I realized that the source of the scent, my mate, was none other than soon to be Alpha Terrance Young, I think I momentarily went into shock. Even though Crystal was going bonkers,  yelling at me to, "Run to mate!" my feet wouldn't move. I was frozen to the spot. Then he was in front of me, touching my face. I felt tingles all throughout my body. "Mate," he whispered.    I tentatively touched his face and felt the tingles intensify with the added contact. "Mate," I whispered back. I didn't want to whisper it - I wanted to dance through the hallways telling every werewolf in hearing distance that I had found my mate. But because there were humans around we simply whispered it.    Terrance immediately crushed his lips to mine in a kiss that was somehow rough, possessive, and gentle at the same time. It was as if he was pouring his entire heart out into that one kiss. But at the same time it was a warning to the other males to back off.   Terrance lifted his head just as the fog in my brain started to clear enough to become aware of the whistles and clapping all around us. Terrance whipped his head around to look at everyone. Seeing that there were no humans present, using his Alpha tone he growled, "No one says anything about this until I say you can, got it?"   All of them bowed their heads in submission and, "Yes Alpha," was heard from all around us.   Terrance grabbed my hand and dragged me into am empty classroom as I felt tears coming to my eyes. Of course. I should've known. He was ashamed to have an omega for a mate. I was a nobody. What was I thinking? No Alpha in his right mind would want an omega for a mate.   "Analeigh, I - "   "Terrance, I - "   We both started to speak at the same time, then stopped. Terrance smiled at me, still holding my hand. "You first," he said.    I pulled my hand away. Even though Crystal howled at the loss of contact, I knew I would never be able to take rejection if we were touching each other. "Terrance, if you're going to reject me, please, don't draw it out. Please just get it over with," I whispered, dropping my eyes.    He furrowed his brow. "Reject you?" he said incredulously. "Why would I ever do that?"   "Well, because you're, well, you know, about to be the Alpha," I said nervously. "And I'm just an omega. A nobody."   Terrance's eyes narrowed and he grabbed my hand in both of his. Crystal practically purred like a kitten when he did that. "You are not a nobody," he growled. "You may be an omega right now, but you are the future Luna of this pack." He released my hand to cup my face with both hands. "And you are mine. Do you understand?"   "But what if other packs see you as weak because you have a weak omega as a mate? What if the pack doesn't respect me because they see me as nothing but a servant?"    "Anybody who disrespects you will be dealt with as if they disrespected me," he said. He then ever so gently laid his lips on mine and lingered there for a minute before the kiss slowly became more more intense. Finally he pulled his head back and said, "Now do you get it?"   I nodded slowly. "But if you're not ashamed of me, then why did you order the pack members out there not to say anything?"   He hopped up onto a desk and pulled me closer until I was standing between his thighs with his arms looped around my waist. He smiled and said, "Ana, if I hadn't ordered them to keep quiet, don't you know the entire pack would've known by lunchtime? I don't know about you, but I want to be the one to tell my family. Don't you?"   I smiled and nodded. Then another thought occurred to me. "What about Aliana?"   Terrance frowned slightly. "It's not going to be pleasant, but hopefully she'll understand that I've found my mate now. Either way, she's going to have to accept it when I end it with her. I'd like you to be with me when I do."   "I don't know, Terrance. Shouldn't that be private?" I had never had a boyfriend, but I would imagine I wouldn't want an audience when a guy broke up with me.   Terrance smiled and kissed the back of my hand. "We're mates now, Analeigh. I don't want any secrets between us."   I nodded. But in my head I knew that was not going to be a pleasant scene. "OK. Oh, and Terrance? Call me Ana."   His face broke out into a huge grin. "Yes ma'am."   Terrance POV   I slid down from the desk and intertwined my beautiful mate's fingers with mine. "Come on," I said after another soft kiss on her luscious lips. "We've already missed almost all of second period so we may as well go straight to the cafeteria."   "May as well," Ana agreed. Then she glanced down and pulled her hand away. "Hold on. My shoe's untied."    While she knelt down to deal with her wayward shoelace, I opened the classroom door and stepped out, hoping to see either Jaydon or Cody, but the hallway was empty. I was about to step back in to sneak one more kiss from my gorgeous mate when I heard someone call my name from the other end of the corridor. I couldn't quite stifle a quiet groan, causing Ana to give me a puzzled look as she stood up and stepped toward me. I took her hand again and turned around.   "Hello, Aliana."   Aliana POV   Before climbing out of my baby - my fire engine red 2020 Fiat Spider that was a gift for last year's birthday from my dad - I meticulously checked my hair and makeup and made sure it was on point. After all, Terrance would be introducing me as the future Luna very shortly and all eyes would be on me. I had to make sure I looked good.    'But what if he's not our mate?' This from my wolf, Kara.   'I don't care. I'm getting that title,' I told her firmly.    'Want mate,' she whined. 'Want TRUE mate.'   'You'll get whichever mate I decide to give you,' I said flatly. I blocked her from my mind. I wasn't in the mood to hear her whining about her mate today. That was all she ever talked about anymore and it was super annoying.    I checked the time on my phone. 10:55 a.m. Second period would be ending in five minutes. Good. That meant I could make my grand entrance in the cafeteria, where every eye would be on me. I wanted the whole pack to know who the soon to be Luna was. It was high time this pack showed me the respect I deserved. I saw the banner announcing my birthday, along with Terrance's and that weird omega girl's. Analeigh something or other. I rolled my eyes. Putting a lowly omega's name alongside mine was nothing but an insult and I intended on telling the staff about it.   As I entered the building, I shot my dad a text telling him I was at the school - something he made me do or he threatened to take my keys - and was putting my phone away when I spotted Terrance coming out of a classroom at the other end of the hallway. I called his name as I walked toward him. I wanted to tell him to introduce me as the new Luna at his party tonight so there'd be no doubt amongst the pack about who was in charge.   I saw Terrance turn and reach out to someone before turning to look at me. "Hello, Aliana."    "Hey, look, I - " I stopped short when I saw who he'd reached out to. That weak, stupid omega was holding MY boyfriend's hand. I narrowed my eyes and glared at her. "I thought I told you to keep your paws off of my boyfriend." I reached to grab Terrance's other hand and pull him away from her, but he shocked me by pulling his hand away. I turned my glare to him. "What exactly is going on here, Terrance?"    "We need to talk, Aliana," he said.   I crossed my arms over my chest. "About what?" I snapped.   He shook his head.  "Not here," he said. He opened the classroom door a little wider. "In here."   I narrowed my eyes again. "I'm not going anywhere until you - "   "Now!" he growled in his alpha tone. No werewolf can defy their alpha's order so I turned and flounced into the classroom.    Analeigh POV   I hate confrontation. If Terrance hadn't been holding my hand as we followed Aliana back into the classroom, I probably would've run the other way.    Aliana turned to glare at both of us. "What the h**l is going on, Terrance? Why are you letting that b**ch - "   Terrance let out one short low growl of warning. "Enough! You're a smart girl, Aliana. It's our 18th birthday. You have to realize my scent is exactly the same to you as it was yesterday. Just as yours is to me."   Aliana dropped her arms to her sides with her fists clenched. I saw unshed tears of fury glistening in her eyes. "What are you saying, Terrance Anthony Young?"    Terrance pulled me up to his side. "I'm sorry, Aliana. I don't mean to hurt you. But things between us have to end. Analeigh is my mate."   I pulled my hand away from him and stepped forward, reaching my hand out toward Aliana. "Aliana, I'm sorry. I never meant to hurt - "   She slapped my hand away. "Don't touch me, omega," she snapped, spitting the last word out like it tasted disgusting to her. She spun back to Terrance. "Terrance, you know we're meant to be together. You know it! Reject her and we can move on."   This time, he was the one narrowing his eyes at her. "No. Analeigh is the one the Moon Goddess chose for me, and I will not be rejecting her. Not just for myself, but for the pack. An Alpha is strongest when they're with their true mate and you know this."   "Fine. Whatever," she said with a dismissive wave of her hand. "Keep her as your side piece. I don't give a sh*t. But you know that Luna title is mine!"   "Is that all you were really after? A f**ing title? You're crazy if you think I would ever do that to my mate!" Terrance growled at her. "We are done, Aliana. Done!"    Aliana spun back to me. "This is all your fault, you b**ch!" She lunged at me, but Terrance caught her before she could reach me and gave her a shove toward the door.   "Go, Aliana! Just go. We had a good relationship but it's done now. Don't dishonor that by acting this way. We both knew all along there was a possibility we weren't mates. Please. Just go," he said firmly.    "You haven't heard the last of me," she hissed.    With that, she stormed out, angrily flinging her long jet black hair over her shoulder as she did and slamming the door behind her.   I released the breath I didn't even know I was holding. Turning to Terrance, I pressed my face into his chest, letting my mate's scent wash over me and settle my jumbled up nerves. "Well, that was fun."   I heard Terrance's soft laugh of relief and felt him kiss the top of my head. "I'm just glad it's over."   Third Person POV   Aliana stormed out of the school like a category 7 hurricane, hell bent on destroying everything and everyone in her path. But she stopped short when she saw the figure leaning against her car and the scent of butterscotch and peppermint reached her.   She planted her hands on her hips. "What are you doing here? And get off my car!" she demanded.   The man grinned at her, an alluring grin that promised adventure and excitement, with a twist of evil. "I've come for you," he said, stepping forward and touching her cheek. "Mate."   She stared into his mesmerizing brown eyes, feeling the tingles running through her body and feeling Kara practically purr with happiness. "Mate," she whispered.   He planted a soft kiss on her lips, then his smile widened. "Come now, mate," he said, sliding an arm around her waist. "We have some planning to do."
