*The Next Day*
I couldn't believe it. We had gone from no children to four in the space of just a few hours. It had been a few hours since My mind was racing. I knew Maria had family in her former pack, but when we'd contacted them to inform them of Josh and Maria both passing away, they'd been cold and disinterested. Her mother had informed Terrance they'd wanted her to reject "that boy" and wanted nothing to do with "their offspring," as she coldly put it. She even went so far as to try to blame Maria for her own death, saying if she'd stayed there she'd still be alive.
