Rose I don’t know how long I slept, but it felt like the best sleep I had ever had. Deep, dreamless, peaceful. When I woke up I had this moment of panic, thinking it had only been a dream, that when I was fully awake I would find myself back on my rock-hard futon in Texas, and when I stretched out my arms I would be alone. The fear of losing it all again was so real that my heart began to pound against my ribs and I was afraid to move.
