One good thing that came out of my leaving Max was that I had managed to get the landlord to allow me to stay. It took a lot for me to convince her that I wouldn’t cause any trouble for her if she let me stay, but the fact that I had broken up with Max seemed to be a good enough reason for her to let me stay. Of course, she was still watching every move I made, probably thinking that I would slip up and she would see Max visiting me, but thankfully, nothing happened. The last thing I needed was to be evicted and end up homeless or worse, having to beg Max for help or accept help from him.
