The office was quiet for only a short while before Emily disrupted Molly's and John's breakfast. They'd had a later start to their day, enjoying cuddling in the ease of being in their home again.
"Molly! My niece made me watch this super annoying movie. But one of the actors was so hot. So I look him up, and are you joking? You dated him?!"
John gave her a quick side eye but didn't bother to allow the loud woman any of the attention she wanted.
Molly told her to settle down but Emily persisted and carried on.
"And then I go down this rabbit hole while looking him up and you literally just filmed with him! Also, why are you here if you're practically a musician and date celebrities?"
"Dated. Past tense. I'm not with Julien anymore." Molly said, "He's really not that awesome. Can you sing? You two would look great together."
Emily swooned. "Could you imagine? Is he single?"
She nodded in return and went back to talking with John, pointing at something on a piece of paper.
"Oh. My. God."
They both turned to look at her.
"You have a ring. Your mystery man proposed?"
Molly nodded again. "Yup. It was one heck of a weekend."
Emily left, giving off very hectic vibes of jealousy and giddiness. Soon most of the office knew that Molly was engaged, or thought she was already married, and later when she and John went to the kitchen to grab a coffee after a meeting, the three office women were gathered at a table eating lunch and gossiping while bugging her with questions.
"Where are you going to hold the wedding, Molly?" Donna asked. "Did you look at any dresses yet?"
She was a little shy and tried to brush them off.
"Oh, I haven't really had time to think about anything yet." She said while handing the milk to John and scouring the fridge for snacks.
Rosie also put in her two cents. "I love church weddings, will it be in a church?"
"In all honesty, I'd be fine with just going to the courthouse. I've really come to hate being stared at. I've had enough time in the spot light, I think." She told them and Rosie gave her a disappointed look.
"Your dad would hate that." John said, making Molly laugh.
"How would you know?" Emily questioned with a grossed out expression that he ignored and didn't reply.
Rosie and Donna both told her the best places to go shopping, about caterers and halls, and that they'd love to be invited out, but Molly said she wasn't sure she wanted to spend anything on a big white wedding.
"Hey, don't I get any say in this?" John asked, "You think I don't want to see you in a fancy white dress? Something a little sexy and form fitting maybe?"
Emily's mouth dropped as she started processing their words.
"And Avery would make the best flower girl."
Molly gave him a flustered smile, feeling a bit guilty, and put the milk carton away for him.
"I guess I didn't think about it. You certainly have though."
He placed his hand on the small of her back and took his coffee in the other.
"Wait. Wait, wait, wait." Emily repeated, dumbstruck. "What is happening? What happened to the hunk you were dating and why is John acting like this?"
Rosie rolled her eyes. "These two have been like cats and dogs since they met." She said in her own sassy old lady voice. Molly loved the spunky side of her personality and thought she was the perfect hybrid of classic, but brutally honest.
Donna laughed and admitted that she had wondered if they had something going on, making sure to congratulate them.
"John... is the guy you're... dating?" Emily stammered.
"No, he's the guy I'm engaged to." Molly confirmed as John moved his hand from her back, to her hip, and started to pull her toward their office.
They smiled as they walked past the women who were making fun of Emily's confusion.
"I bet you feel like a fool for saying that man was interested in you, now don't you?" Rosie said while elbowing the woman beside her, and cackling up a storm. "You really thought that big reaction he had to Kent was all for you!?"
Donna couldn't help but join in with the fun being poked at her coworker. "Em, they go everywhere together and she even told us what he looked like. Salt and pepper hair and everything."
Emily just sat there feeling embarrassed and like she maybe hated Molly.
"So how do you feel now that our secret is out?" John asked Molly as they sat at their shared desk space.
"Conflicted." She replied while moving her attention to some folders that she'd pulled out earlier.
"Conflicted?" He laughed and began teasing her. "I see, am I no longer attractive to you because everyone knows?"
Molly laughed along with him. "Yes, it's quite dull now and I'm bored. Too bad it was so short lived." She dramatically made her hand fly away as she closed her eyes.
John, who loved her peculiar sense of humor, grabbed her waving hand and pulled her chair close to his.
"Well, I'm Conflicted as well." He told her, barely an inch away from her, making her heart speed up.
"I can't tell if I want to get some work done or just constantly make out with you since it won't be a shock to anyone now."
Molly's lashes fluttered and she parted her lips slightly.
"Oh God Molly, don't look at me like that."
"Like what?" She asked, batting her eyes at him again.
"Like you're just dying to have me touch you."
She put her hands on his face, stroking his stubble and holding him firmly while kissing him. John felt like his breath was completely taken away.
"Whoa... Baby, that was something else."
"That's how you kiss me every time. Now you know how I feel when you grab me like that." She taunted while explaining.
"I do that? Do you get turned on like this too because... wow."
She gave him a suggestive smile as he rubbed his neck with all the tension he was feeling.
"I told you. Every. Time."
John kissed her again and she kept her hand on his cheek.
"The first time you ever kissed me and you made it so intimate by touching my face, I knew there'd be no going back. You were so easy to fall for, Johnny."
"Ugh I love it when you say things like that first. I'm not going to lie, I feel like I'm always the one telling you I love you and waiting for you to say it back. It's needy and dumb, it's just such a confidence boost to hear you say something like that." He said shyly. "As for that first kiss, what did I have to lose? You told me to kiss you, I was going beyond crazy that I had such a sexy woman in my house, and the way you kissed me back? Don't even get me started. f**k me Molly, when you came into my bed the next morning and just let me hold you? I was so far gone, I didn't know if the next move was f*****g you or buying a plane ticket to the opposite side of the world so that I wouldn't have to be bothered by some unrequited feelings for you."
Molly tucked some hair out of her face and John continued. "I know I'm ranting but I couldn't tell if I loved the attention or had mistrust for you being so comfortable with me. All I know is that I can't believe I didn't beat the hell out of your ex and that you still want to marry me."
She laughed at his rambling and shook his head lightly, in her hands, to get him to stop. "Baby? I love you so f*****g much."
John turned and kissed one of the hands that had been holding his face. "I love you." He paused and checked her out, paying attention to her chest. "Even when you're all healed, you should just never wear a bra again."
Molly slapped at him playfully.
"And your wedding dress should be one of those really low cut v necks or something. What are those called? You could show off your tattoo for me."
"They're just called deep or plunging necklines." She told him with a laugh and making him groan.
"Well, I know something else that I can't wait to be plunging into."
"Johnny!" She slapped at him again.
"What? It's not a secret anymore, and I don't think it ever was."
"When I first met you, I heard people call you a creep and that you were overly quiet. You seemed so straight forward, but you know what?" She asked, playfully waiting for him to reply.
"What?"
"You're still a creep." She laughed. "But I like that I can make you loud."
John moaned and attacked her with his lips again, kissing her harshly and not caring if anyone were to see them.
