"Asher is Tiana's father?" Reid asks in surprise.
The doctor nods vigorously.
"Yes. He is."
I stare from Asher to the doctor, then back again at Asher.
"What the hell is going on? What is happening right now?"
"Riya," Asher's voice is beseeching. "I can explain."
"That's exactly what I need. An explanation."
"This Summer person has been calling me; telling me that Missy could be my daughter-"
"Tiana." Reid says between his teeth. "Her name is Tiana. That nickname is not helping at all."
He appears to be a bit shaken but he's keeping his calm, his eyes fixed on Asher the entire time. His hands are clenched at the sides, and as I gauge his mood, I quickly decide that he is just as confused as I am.
"-so I brought her in for a paternity test." Asher concludes with a shrug
