AMARA’S POV It’s been two days since we got back. Two days of my stomach turning against me, of dry heaves in the mornings and a constant ache sitting heavy in my body. I barely ate anything, just crackers, fruits, the odd snack I suddenly craved like my life depended on it. Anything else made me gag. I told myself it was stress. God knows I’d been through enough for my body to rebel. The toilet bowl stared back at me as I gagged one last time. Nothing came out this time, just weakness. I flushed and pushed myself up slowly, gripping the sink as dizziness hit me hard. The room spun. My knees almost gave out, but I leaned forward, breathing slowly until the lightheadedness eased. I lifted my head and looked at my reflection. I froze. My face looked… different. Puffy. Slightly swoll
